A inner swinging door is the least secure door. Your door is secured by one inch of pine at the most(the thickness of the wood between your dead bolt and the door frame). It's so you can open your door and get out of your house if there is a pile of snow out there. Otherwise you would be, "snowed in" Safety building code in the snow belt. Anonymous Coward User ID: 27471655 United Kingdom 11/10/2012 05:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | a bump key is a key that will work for any yale type lock. all you have to do is match the type of yale key and then cut down to the lowest point on each pin notch, push into lock, pull out one notch twist and knock in. its so easy, its criminal these locks still exist. |

I can sort off understand the snowed in effect because I live in a northern state but have never had that much snow in front of my door. How does this statute apply to apartment doors in an inner hallway? I'm just basically saying that if in a SHTF scenario,a outward opening door is more secure. |

If there's that much snow outside, my door is going to be the least of my worries. I think 10" is the record here and usually we get none. But our doors open to the inside anyway. One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Originally way back when doors opened in to keep the hinges on the inside, IE you cant get to the pins. Now in Hurricane zones with hurricane codes like South Florida Exterior hurricane rated doors must open out. Actually houses in South Florida are so secure with impact rated doors and windows the fire department carries saws to cut their way into buildings. |

That opening still has a screen door that opens out. I'm in MN. I have read about people climbing out their windows in the past to get outside. No one has ever died because the snow trapped them in their house. |

On your private house the door must open to the inside. Why? It is easier to break down an inter opening door. You must live in an house that TPTB minions have no trouble getting into when they want to. Just sayin. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27472495 Around my area... in the winter... you wouldn't be able to get out of your house after a heavy snowfall 'cause it would block the door. |
