What is this Galactic alignment stuff anyway? I've been studying astronomy for over 30 years & this makes no sense to me. Aligning with what? Great Cross? Huh? Makes no sense to me.

From what I gather, the theory is that we're entering a zone of the Galactic Ecliptic called the Rift which makes weird stuff happen - the 'Rift' event - a completely bogus & uncatalogued theory. Can anyone more knowledgeable tell me what happens when the Solar System enters the Galactic Rift? I'm all ears. Actually, don't bother looking it's simple. Nothing happens, just like nothing happened the last thousand times the Solar System passed through the Galactic Ecliptic.

You need to understand Galactic time scale & stop being so human-centered. Our Galaxy is 100,000 Light Years across & it takes roughly 250 million years for the Solar System to go around once, so if anything is going to happen it would happen gradually over many thousands of years not overnight, even if a cyclic event is frequent. The Solar System has made many orbits of the Galaxy since its creation & amazingly... we & planet Earth are still here, in spite of all of these crossings! Imagine that!?

Back to reality, there's so much junk up in orbit left over from missions & expired satellites that if you sent a snow plow up (or even an X37B?) it could be raining fire for weeks.

Calm down. You have better odds of winning the state lottery twice in a row in your lifetime so have a beer, sit back & laugh at the tards.
