Petraeus affair exposure delayed until after the election

Do you guys remember when the Drudge Report said that a sex scandal was about to hit the campaign? It kept us all in suspense for hours then it was a big letdown when it was announced that a Senator was using prostitutes. No one cared and it was swept under the rug. I'm starting to think that perhaps the Petraeus story was the sex scandal that was about to hit the campaign which would have absolutely destroyed Obama's chances at re-election. Possibly last minute dealings between TPTB kept the story from coming out and the story was quickly change to some story about Menendez using prostitutes. I know it is only speculation but it seems odd that this story comes out a few days after the election especially when we were told that a sex scandal was about to hit the campaign.
