Continuing radioactive leaks from Fukushima Daiichi — “There must be a source”—300,000,000,000 becquerels a month thought entering Pacific
Ocean still suffering from Fukushima fallout

Continuing leaks and contaminated sediment keep radiation levels high.

[...]

New data presented at a conference held on 12–13 November at the University of Tokyo show that levels of radioactivity in the sea around the plant remain stable, rather than falling as expected. Researchers believe that run-off from rivers, as well as continued leaks from the plant, may be partially to blame. But contaminated sediment and marine organisms also seem to be involved.

[...]

The Fukushima disaster caused by far the largest discharge of radioactivity into the ocean ever seen. A new model presented by scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts estimates that 16.2 petabecquerels (1015 becquerels) of radioactive caesium leaked from the plant — roughly the same amount that went into the atmosphere.

[...] in the region of the ocean near the plant, levels of caesium-137 have remained fixed at around 1,000 becquerels, a relatively high level compared to the natural background. Similarly, levels of radioactive caesium in bottom-dwelling fish remain pretty much unchanged more than 18 months after the accident.

Researchers at the conference are convinced that something is preventing the radiation levels from dropping. “There must be a source,” says Scott Fowler, an oceanographer at Stony Brook University in New York.

In fact, a fresh analysis by oceanographer Jota Kanda at the Tokyo University of Marine Science [estimates] the plant itself is leaking around 0.3 terabecquerels [0.3 trillion becquerels] per month [...]

Well... the cat's out of the bag.
Will the mass media notice..?

That festered, sizzling, radioactive mess is oozing contamination into
the Pacific... and there isn't much that anybody can do about it.

More radioactivity than the Ivy King nuclear test at the Enewetak atoll in the Pacific Ocean?
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

More than Castle Bravo at Bikini Atoll?
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

I could list the MANY other above ground nuclear detonations that took place in the pacific ocean, but if the fukashima plant has released more radioactivity than dozens of actual nuclear detonations with mushroom clouds and real fallout,-
than all I can say is "damn, that's a lot of radioactivity for an event that did not even have a mushroom cloud....

How about all 36 Nuclear Bomb detonations of Operation Dominic?

Them tests spread plutonium radioactivity all over the Pacific ocean.

Did Fukushima release more radioactivity than that?

Just wondering...

Because if it did-

DAMN!!! That's a lot of radioactivity leaking out of that crack in a building over there in Japan....

I had no idea that Fukushima was bigger than the baker shot at the Bikini Atoll:

[link to www.youtube.com]

How many people have died due to the radiation exposure and burns thus far? (out of curiosity.)

Quite a few Islanders died due to US Pacific tests, some of them with painful burns and such. US Military enlisted men exposed to radioactivity also died at a mortality rate around 4.6% higher than their non-exposed fellow fighting men.

But I guess Fukishima must be WAY worse then those tests, the way you are talking...

I live in Osaka. It is on the west side of the main island of Honshu and I regularly take measurements with a dosimeter and I can say that the west coast of the US shows far higher readings than here.

Precipitation and sea currents are all taking the contamination over to the US.

At least 3 reactors have fuel outside containment, in the earth and most likely seeping directly into the Pacific.

The source, of course, is Fukushima

Thanks OP, been following this disaster VERY closely since day one.

Uncharted territory is what the world has entered with this disaster. It makes me sick, I loathe the fact that nobody seems to care..

Many people who I mention it too give the same response as they do to the Gulf oil spill - "oh, they already cleaned that up...... didn't they?"

Yahoo News: Cesium over 500,000 Bq/kg detected in canal soil nearby Fukushima gov’t offices

515,000 becquerels per kilogram of cesium was measured from the soil of an irrigation channel in Fukushima city [60km from Daiichi].

It’s Watari area, where is 2km South East of Fukushima prefectural government office.

The measurement was conducted by a citizen’s organization on 10/14/2012.

And the waters were made bitter...and one third of the sea life died..and anyone who drank the rainfall from the seawater also died...

Then because of all the rotting bodies red tide algae grew and flourished..and the sea became as blood..and everything else in it died...and you get the picture...

The corporate and government bozos lost control of that reactor; it's too late, the damage is done. It's irreversible, and probably means the extinction of the Human race. They're only going through the motions of 'normalcy'; most of the top officials and scientists know that it's all over, just a matter of a very short time left now.

I think some People here should be not that surprised

We need to wait at least 25-50 Years for this,
until that Time we will see a increase, in my Opinion!
