Cannabis does not cause a person to act a different way then they would normally act. The person believing that it is going to make them that way is what causes that affect, not cannabis. If someone does something dumb after they smoke, they would have done the same thing even if they have not smoked. I agree with this. I didn't allow my kids to drive when they were just teens. Just last night, I was thinking about all the wealthy young kids who died in fiery, high-speed crashes -- oh, about 35-40 years ago. They had the world at their fingertips, and lost it with one wrong, careless decision.

He was going 110Mph! Even IF his reaction time was slowed because he was high, at that speed you have maybe half a second to react to ANY obstacle. Anyway you cut it, the primary cause of the crash was speeding. Chalk it up to an idiot kid trying to impress his friends with his driving skills. I assure you, the road he was driving on was not intended to be traveled on at that speed.

They have tests now that can determine if you are high at the moment of the crash. They've gotten really technical on how much THC ppm are in your system and can have you arrested for it. He was probably stoned at the time, but I seriously doubt weed had anything to do with it.

They have new tests Trin. They can do a blood or urine test and determine if you've smoked in the past few hours, and they're getting better at it. I crashed once when I was 16, completely sober, but they did a drug and alcohol test (even though I smoked a ton of weed the night before) and couldn't arrest me for DUI because they didn't have proof that I was high at the time. Now they can do those tests. Be careful pot smokers!

On a side note, I do have medical MJ for my Parkinson's. I completely stop shaking when I smoke, but I never drive high.
