not interested in tv
Are there people out there that are disinterested in tv?
I'm not a tv fan at all - hv never understood how people can aimlessly pass their life away in front of a box. I ghrew up in a country where tv was introduced in the late 70s (I'm I'm my 40s now) as such as a child I had to entertain and amuse myself by either reading books or playing with neighbourhood kids. So in this age I'd still rather read a book (non fiction) or play sport than watch tv.
What I've noticed from this is that -
1 I can select which books I like to read and access them from wherever, whereas tv u have to select your choice from a pre programmed list.
2 reading has improved my language and spelling as opposed to the bad language skills of most tv addicts
3 tv fills a certain void in peoples lives, I've seen people get addicted to personalities portrayed on programmes and then suddenly thrown into depression if the season ends or character is killed off. Its also their fave topic of discussion.
I think tv works when its educational and informative- I think documentaries and interviews are fabulous, also sport as well, but programmes like big brother, keeping up with the kardashians etc etc stun me. These people should get a life.
Tmr if tv shuts down - there will be many suicides!

I can totally relate. I have a tv, of course, but I do rarely ever watch tv. I do enjoy movies every now and then.

Re: not interested in tv
I haven't owned a TV since 2010 and I haven't missed it. Being in a room with a TV that is turned on irritates me. I am mainly exposed to them when I am stuck in airports.

Re: not interested in tv
I have one that goes for 12 hours a day because my elderly grandmother lives with me and thats all she knows to do. If she didnt live here there would be no TV at all in my house. Its all just junk.

Andy Griffith, WKRP in Cincinnati, and In the heat of the Night are my favorites though.
What are the facts?

Re: not interested in tv
I own 6 TV's.. I haven't turned any of them on in 3 years.. except the HDTV in the living room for the xbox.. My kids play with their pc's.. so why pay for it? All the shows suck anyway..

Everything I'm interested in I can find right on the net..
