Disease will be rampant in any major city, as evidenced by the people who were using hallways for bathrooms when the power was only out for a few days. |

Raw sewage carries many diseases and parasites. Quoting: oh_yikes They don't have any problems swimming in the Ganges in India. Uhmmmmm.................. ya they do it, by the millions I guess, but they do have problems and illness and disease are rampant from bathing in it. Skin problems, parasites and disease. I wouldn't call that not having any problems. Read up on it. Not to mention the half burned bodies and body parts cast into the Ganges from all of the cremations on its banks. Well at least they do try to burn them. In NY they just shoot people and throw them in. Any way you slice it, 'floaters' certainly do not add to the ambiance of the waterways. Appealing no?! |

As for sewerage, that's nothing new. I used to go down the East River in the 1960's right next to the UN Building and see more turds and rubbers than you could possibly count. We used to call the rubbers 'oblong Jellyfish' |
