Titicut Follies is a 1967 American documentary film directed by Frederick Wiseman and filmed by John Marshall, about the patient-inmates of Bridgewater State Hospital for the criminally insane, a Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. In 1967 the film won awards in Germany and Italy. Later on Wiseman made a number of such films examining social institutions (e.g. hospitals, police, schools, etc.) in the United States. The title of the film is taken from a talent show put on by the hospital's inmates, which was named after the Wampanoag word for the nearby Taunton River. Otherwise I suggest "We bought A Zoo" which might take your mind off all the doom and gloom for a while, and make you feel all good inside. |

Anonymous Coward 11/20/2012 04:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This movie is hilarious... and at the same time, sad because it addresses everything talked about on GLP daily... yet it's hidden in this ridiculous 1976 movie... totally obscure. "The Big Bus is set aboard a nonstop, nuclear-powered luxury bus commandeered by Joseph Bologna. Naturally, Bologna is a tortured hero with a deep dark secret (he keeps insisting he didn't eat all those passengers on his last disastrous drive). . . . . Unfortunately, The Big Bus was dumped onto the summer 1976 release schedule without fanfare by Paramount, and it sank without a trace." Gee... wonder why. |
