First experience with Prison/Jail Industrial Complex
I have read in the past about the criminal 'justice'/industrial complex in the 'ol U. S. of A....but did not give credence to it. Pretty much lumped it into crying eyed weeping liberal b.s. "Good" people do not get caught up in, or harassed by the 'authorities', is what I previously reasoned. Oh sure traffic tickets are a pain in the arse, but it is what it is. Fast forward to this fall. I have personally experienced Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) ignorance/ineptitude/immaturity. I know, I know..my previous viewpoint was very naive. Long story short = me, my wife, and good friend not doing anything wrong and lawless -> LEO taking me into custody for Boating Under the Influence -> me passing ALL field sobriety tests -> LEO angry that I am not inebriated -> my arrest -> jail -> getting first hand experience in the faceless and lack of common sense meat grinder called the 'justice'/industrial complex.

I would like to see what everyones thoughts are on how my 'new' viewpoint: We live in a veil of freedom, due to LEO's and the gov/industry abusing power. They are keeping the masses as $$$ sources....and people at large let them do it. What the hell.wtf

No shit OP

when I was 21 I passed a field sobriety test and the guy didn't even take a breathalizer of me, told me I "had" to be under the influence of something

(because I wouldn't let him illegally search my car, and he thought I had tons of weed on me cause of ends of hand-rolled cigs in my ash tray.. so he sat there and broke them all open for about 20 minutes which further enraged this fat pig shit)

So anyways he takes me in, and drops me in general population at the local jail.. where they let me sit for 48 hours literally. I went to court for some bullshit reckless driving charge (I had touched the white line once, which is why he pulled me over in the first place)

charge was thrown out when judge found out how long I sat in jail

You "lumped it into crying eyed weeping liberal b.s."??

wtf

You should have been forced to squat and submit to a body cavity search as well. Your fascist "conservative" Supreme Court has ruled LE can do that to us anytime for any minor offense.

Thank god Romney won't be able to stuff the Court with more corporate-fascist Scalitos!

That may have been the case in the past, mr. anonymous coward, but that concept in our modern world sadly holds as much water as a slotted spoon. I did not break a single law, yet was taken into custody, harassed, arrested, harassed and treated inhumanely, held in jail for 14 hours, and then released after having posted bail.

We live in a Police State, where if a LEO wants to arrest you, levy fines, and Eff up your life....they can with impunity and with little to no probable cause.

Believe me, I felt just like you: One doesn't get burned if you do not play with fire.

The situation is waaaay out of control. Wake up people.

Innocent until proven guilty is a fallacy!! TPTB have the power. It is only a matter of time before they use it on a far more widely reaching scale.

Hop on the wheel hamsters...if you don't it's a jailin' fer ya.

You are %100 correct, I am not afraid to admit it. The prison/jail Industrial complex needs maximum # of people in it so that they can 'bill out' for services rendered. Municipalities need more $$ due to dwindling coffers. Logically, who do you think they now are identifying as persons who have $$ and will keep the meat grinder going?

Meditating on "Past" claims of LEO harassment by minorities and other specific groups, I now give a greater degree of weight and validity to them.

It all may have been about race in the past, perhaps even about social strata....now it is all about the $$$ and how many people they can fit into the "pods".

OP, you gave them the power to do this by ignoring it when it was "them" getting dicked around by "the law". well, welcome to being a "them". it's nothing new, this crap has gone on forever, it just didnt personally affect YOU, so you chose to buy the "party line". welcome to reality. too late now though. YOU gave them the power. how many "tough on crime" talking heads did you vote for over the years? how many times did you sit there and nod like a good little drone when they goose-stepped around howling "ve must haff order!!"? how many times did you agree to folks having their rights violated "for the children!!"? you helped lay the platters on the lazy susan, now you want to cry when it's YOUR turn to eat it? lol, too late, too little. enjoy your meal, you cooked it, you served it.

Umm...no....you are taking a ride down the proverbial slippery slope

You know very little of my background fella. Although I did let you know that I am 1. 'white' 2. 'own a boat'

To then erroneously assume I am an advocate for "tough on crime talking heads who speak like German accented American Authoritarians" is a reach and a stretch. Your anger is misdirected and furthers an ignorant racially motivated agenda.

But I can overlook your cynicism and divisive monochromatic 'world-view' leanings.

I grew up on an Indian Reservation, in a small community, where the same persons who could possibly exert authority and arrest you, were the same persons who lived down the street and were the same persons with whom you would be shopping with at the local market.

I am merely trying to delineate how in our modern society LEO's accountability is unchecked -> The reigning oversight organizations that call the shots are unchecked -> Americans live under a veil of assumed "freedoms"

Re: First experience with Prison/Jail Industrial Complex
It's pretty simple. If the "law" claims you are guilty, then the average person has to believe it on some level.

Even in the black community, being in prison kind of means that you actual did something, to the minds of your fellows.

And, at this point, as an individual, you can't do much about it. Not that will fix the problem.

So instead you have to protect yourself and others.

1. Always be polite. To everyone. Go out of your way to be kind and genteel.

This won't give you a magic force field, but it will make you less likely to be a target.

2. Have all your paperwork in order and at hand, at all times when out in public. If stopped you have to be ready to present it. (Welcome to the Nazi controlled U.S.?)

3. Follow all the laws, at least in public and never, ever brag or talk about the laws you broke.

4. Give the appearance of being law abiding all the time. Dress nicely, but not more so than those around you. Don't ape or mimic "cool criminal styles".

5. Avoid the police. Unless you are being killed or currently raped in the behind, don't call them. Don't have anything to do with them if you can at all help it.

Now, this won't save you 100% of the time, but it will help a lot. There are dozens of modern rules to follow, but it comes down to not giving anyone reason to think you're other than you seem, a law abiding and polite person.

UPDATE:

State Att. Office flip seeking to delay trial indefinitely. LEO (F&G Officer) flip still has not completed his report on all three tickets/charges against me. My legal counsel is saying that this is a strategy of the State and LEO to 'dishearten' persons charged in a case such as mine, due to the fact they "have a very weak case". We are moving forward and filed for a evidentiary hearing the 13th of this month. State Att is/was trying to postpone any/all trial or hearings until spring 2013!?!? Anyone else out there experience this sort of situation also??

The only law is the organic state and federal Constitutions. And LEO's break them on a daily basis. Regardless of the fact that they have sworn an oath, given their words as men that they would in exchange for a badge of servitude honor, obey and uphold their masters God given, unalienable, Constitutionally protected rights. So tell me which one of those laws did he break and how many did the cop break?

Yes, I have CWB.. 7 years ago, pulled over for floating a stop sign in icy conditions..
LEO. "have you been drinking sir?"
me.. (MISTAKE) "yes, I had two beers approx two and a half hours ago at a friend's"
LEO "well, due to conditions, we cannot administer a field sobriety.. Can you watch this pen?
Keepin in mind it's passed 2 am with a four cell Maglight shining on the bridge of my nose, so I obviously can not see the pen..
LEO "you seem inebriated sir, Im placing you under arrest."
Fast forward about five minutes, in cuffs now.. NO MIRANDA RIGHTS, NO BREATHALYZER TEST...
LEO "Im going to search your vehicle, do you consent?"
I obliged because I was CERTAIN he'd find nothing.. Well, he found pot.. Planted? Im unsure, I dont remember losing any pot.. LOL

Long story short, I got the royal reem from the county, the AA counseling company and an attorney that did jack SHIT to help me out after an 800 dollar fee..

The whole situation just rife with racketeering the average Joe (me).. To top it off, this was Xmas eve and this tool had several confiscated toys in his rig.. No doubt for his kids.. Fuckin POS
