Actually, Bush was in Tyler, Texas, with Barbara, when JFK was assassinated. Tyler is about 100 miles east of Dallas and he was making a speech when the news came. I am no apologist for George, but I did live in Tyler and know this firsthand.

Its easy to know why GHWB might have laughed upon hearing the news about JFK. He and LBJ conspired to have him shot.

GHWB was pissed about the bay of pigs because his ship the Barbara was down there in support of it. LBJ knew if Kennedy lived he would never have a shot at the Presidency.

I spoke many years ago with LBJ's chopper pilot who told me he had been asked multiple times by the press for an interview and he always refused. When I told him what I just wrote above, he turned white as a sheet, said "I would like to stay alive so we will not talk about that", turned and walked away.
