One Trillion in cut I love how politicians battle back and forth about how to solve the problem but everyone just ignores the obvious fact that the military is this insanely bloated out of control money eating machine that could be cut in half and still be the world's biggest. Quoting: revcc China spends 3% of their country's budget on their military, the US spends 30%, they could spend one tenth as much as still be spending as much as China. |

The terrorists never go away so business is always good. |

No unemployment, tens of thousands of federal workers laid off. One Trillion in cut the thing I don't get is, unemployment insurance is 164 billion dollars now, compared to 35 billion in 2005, it's grown 5 times as big because of all the unemployed people, so now they are cutting it. I think the way it's set up is dumb, if you make 800 dollars a week, you get 700 dollars in unemployment or some such amount, if you make 250 dollars a week, you get 200 a week. Why are people who make a lot of money, paid a lot of money in Federal and State unemployment? They need to be rewarded for making a lot of money? They should be the people who need LESS money, because they've been making more, had more to save. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3530975 One trillion dollars is enough to pay 30 million federal workers, $30,000 dollars a year. With the government's 3 trillion a year budget, they could employ 100 million people in the United States, if they paid them all $30,000 a year. Accept we would have no good or services, backing up our money. Good, let it go over the fiscal cliff. Maybe a dose of reality will wake people up. |

Quoting: revcc A fellow in another town buys army surplus items.. He showed up the other day with a deuce and 1/2 truck army radio shack.. Paid $3000 for it.. It looked real clean and here is the reason why.. Just 4 months ago,, our govt spent $132,000 on it with a new cab,, new tires, axles, engine, transmission,, and lights and new paint job.. So why did they take a totally worn out POS truck and rebuild it only to auction it off 4 months later? Sounds brain dead to me and we all know this is just 1 case out of how many 1000s that happen every month? Sodbust Dream big,, its ones only chance |

No unemployment, tens of thousands of federal workers laid off. One Trillion in cut Four years ago my daughter lost her well-paying job here in WA state and got $500 a week in unemployment. It was enough for her to stay in her modest home (would have cost almost as much for her to rent an apartment) and feed herself and her two boys. She knows how to budget and cut lots of costs and managed to get by until another job came along. We're so pleased that the money was there when she needed it, and I really feel for anyone needing to make it on what other states will pay in unemployment. |
