Sleep is very elusive these days. I do well from midnite to 3 am, anything else is hit or miss.

dbcbd
myvodka

and kava tea.
Also abstaining from these things.
Also physical exertion (moving LOTS of firewood)
and reading.

oh, and melatonin.

It's okay. I have probably averaged 4 -5 hours a night for the last 30 years. Sometimes my job, sometimes kids, and other things.. It's no big deal.

Sometimes I think I just don't need as much sleep as the average person. I mean, there's people who need more than the average so if there is an average, someone has to balance them out.

Re: GLP-Jukebox
i went out for my last smoke break of the work day (night actually), 'twas around six this morning, and it wasn't snowing, not quite...

it was a common foggy morning, and the temperature was just right to make it so that the fog was crashing, precipitating out of the air in a light breeze. i know i can't say they were individual molecules, because that can't be seen, but standing in certain places under the brighter than luna halogens in the parking lot made it seem like it was possible

moving away from the lighted areas, you wouldn't even think there were water crystals in the air. moving back in and looking toward where the wind was blowing from, though - is something i've seen so very seldom in my life

looking up at a dark sky, is like millions of twinkling stars blowing by, but not streaking and leaving a sense of movement as they catch the light in time so slight. let your focus drift, and it almost seems as though it's you that's moving through them instead of the other way around

hard to describe well, but it gave me quite a moment, and a recollection of this lil quip:
yeah i drink a few times a year and tonight is one of those times...lol but I am far from a poet when I drink..I also never post here, always only lurk. Therefore, it is obvious tonight is one of those nights as I have the courage to reply knowing I have nothing of significance to add to your thread. Nonetheless, I am sure since you are also drinking, it somehow makes sense that I posted.

Re: GLP-Jukebox
i have a super efficient wood-burning insert, one of the ones with the heatsink and electric fan to boot, but unfortunately no efficient source of firewood :/

went through the supply i hauled from my dad's when he was getting ready to sell his property over the course of about 3 years after. the real estate agent said the massive pile of firewood would be a - and not a + to the value of the home for most would-be buyers.

i thought the same as he did, that shit's been turned bassackwards and upside down for too long already. but regardless, when he sent the email out to all the birds, asking for the pile to be removed, i asked if i could fill my subbie up twice. as long as it's from the unsplit i do all the splitting and lifting, he said :)

the worst part of doing laundry, if you ask me, is having to let go of the clothes worn while tending the fires. why can't the smell just stay... cry

dude said for about the price of car insurance for one month, so i had to check.

umm, no, i can't get one of those for less than $100, and i also have my eighteen-year old tree and her pontiac on my policy.

people spending over $369 per month on car insurance have fubar priorities.
