Hello Grey Eagle!! My son just got back from that cross country trip last night. Chicago to Denver day one. Then to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. Off to Joshua Tree Nat Park. California to Modesto to visit a friend. Then to Yosemite with the most glorious pics. That was all in 11 days. YOUTH!!! Oh there was more but I'm giving him time to decompress.

Cool! Sounds great to hear that he had fun and an interesting adventure over those 11 days.

I take it that he avoided much rain and/or snow during that time?

Did he hike up to the waterfalls in Yosemite (like I usually do)?

So now he has finally seen some mountains?

YES!!! They did have to change the drive out of Denver. Plan was to take Rabbit Ears Pass and drive to Colorado Springs but that was getting some big snow. He took another route and drove to Flagstaff. Next day was the Grand Canyon and that night Vegas. They stayed somewhere in CA before Modesto but I'm not sure where. Saw waterfall pics looking up at Yosemite and El Capitan looking like a dream.

BTW, this past weekend was the frozen waterfall climb at Starved Rock. Four falls, some 125 feet, a weekend event. If you want look at The Times for Ottawa, IL today and yesterday--about 20 pics. The "shoes" are incredible.

I'm really proud of Bryan for making that journey. All the stars were aligned to do that.

I haven't been to Starved Rock since the 1970s!

We hiked and picnic'd around there (fotos at Indian Head Rock) with family and then had a catfish dinner at some restaurant right near the River.

Bryan never saw the Pacific Ocean while in California?

Or Lake Tahoe?

Back in after dog pooped. Yes he did. Sent us a video of the surfers and the waves. That's the place I'm not sure of--think it was an air b and b--?? LYLB, xoxo
