Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70953375 Inspiring the (not-so-accurate) William Hurt movie, Altered States. A co-worker of mine in the 1980s read all of Lilly's books and made his own saline tank, and then took acid in there. I never got around to doing that. He soon got fired, and I never saw him again. Plus he owed me some of money.. nice very interesting |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70953375 United States 07/12/2017 04:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Love ELO. My brother bought their albums back in the day before i ever did tho.. Quoting: Peace Frog 70953375 I'm holding in my hand 'the very best of electric light orchestra', a compilation CD that I bought for $5 at WalMart last year. From 'Evil Woman' to 'Roll Over Beethoven', 15 greatest songs of theirs for an amazing 5 bones. And to think that I used to pay $6.99 each for all those cassettes years ago, before CDs became so mass-produced and cheap! That's awesome!!! My older brother would tell you that I took his Back in Black album and left it in the sunlight to warp....as well as his Rush 2112 album...shame on me, it's true. I had that album in high school. When Rush would come to Chicago on tour ('77-'79?), they would SELL-OUT for 4 nights IN A ROW there at the Amphitheatre or Stadium. No one had done that until they did. Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and the Stones would do one BIG show and then leave.. That's awesome! My two older brothers turned me on to Rush and Queen...and numerous other great bands.... I found myself as a teen loving Ozzy...born 12/31/1966... I held tickets for a concert to see Ozzy when Randy Rhodes died and they had to reschedule the show...my mom took my ticket and gave it to my brother because I did something to her dissatisfaction that I cannot now remember...but I would not be deterred from seeing this concert....My friends bought a scalped ticket and got me in anyway....and the mixers were where we should be seated...I got moved a dozen times during that concert...and they finally let me be..I was all of 16...All Aboard........ahahahaha I wasn't a huge Ozzy or Sabbath fan, but your concert reminiscnces/anecdotes are pretty darn accurate from what I recall at 15-18 years old. desperately trying to score tickets all the time for various bands that would tour and come to town. Back then I was into Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tin Lizzy, Foghate, Led Blimp, UFO, Robin Trower, Terrible Ted, Aerosmith, Foreigner, REO, Styx, Supertramp, Eagles, Frampton, BOC, etc.. Every Monday the Kool Kidz would show off their never-worn black concert T-shirts that they had bought for $10 on Saturday night at the big concert downtown. Total status-symbol thang.. |

Always loved Supertramp, never saw them live and forget about finding any decent tunes by them on youtube...I have several of their albums though...I still enjoy them but cannot share them, school being my favorite from them... Ah, concerts in my youth all Ozzy and Iron Maiden...I saw Van Halen with Roth, I saw Twisted Sister in a bar with Queensryche opening...Geoff Tate killed me for real and Dee Snyder was truly scary....but this was the 80's.....Iron Maiden was my fix for sure back then....my favorite band besides the Scorpions, which I also got to see at the Monsters of Rock!!!! I don't go to shows anymore...the last show I went to was Pearl Jam, I'm an old fart that hates crowds..... But in my youth I didn't mind it as much as I do now. Anonymous Coward User ID: 70953375 United States 07/12/2017 04:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember trading my Ozzy Diary of a Madman album with a friend for Aerosmith Night in the Ruts Album..... Remember walking in the sand... I still love that song too!!! In high school I would constantly flip thru the radio dial each afternoon and evening to get as much info as possible from all the different radio stations (WLUP, WDAI, WXRT, WKQX, WLS, etc). They would broadcast LIVE concerts for everyone if you wanted to get your casette deck set-up to record the show/performance. Since none of us had big allowances or much birthday money, we would record alot of concerts off the stereo and then trade the tapes at school or whenever. Aerosmith was one concert that I taped at the old Aragon Ballroom, and I still remember how Steven Tyler was pretty raunchy (and/or stoned/lit) that night with all his between-song banter. He dedicated one song to someone (prolly a groupie) named Hillary: "This one's for you Hillary.." It was a pretty loud sex-themed show as I recall.. Remember all the stoners/wastoids/freaks/burnouts that went to Bad Company and BOC shows? Those guys all wore Marijuana Growers Local __ Levi's jackets that always smelled like weed.. Fast Times At Ridgemont High wasn't too far off the mark! |
