As long as you have a clean amplifier and a good cartridge and stylus/needle. I had a Garrard turntable and a Realistic 14W AM/FM stereo amp Quoting: Grey Eagle One year out of HS I was in college and hard-up for money, so I sold most of my vinyl album collection - and my red Ventura electric guitar and amp. I needed money for food and gasoline. Times were tough for alot of us then. I collect new releases on vinyl still :D Talk about tough times... I once had every NIN halo on retail stamped CDs/DVDs from 01 (Down In It single) to 17 (And All That Could Have Been double set) barring the Halo 12 VHS release. Had to sell them all to fill the pantry. I did have a friend with that VHS release played only twice who let me borrow them to make DVD conversions. I have a better looking video for The Perfect Drug than the official one on YouTube, but can't upload it due to copyright restrictions :P My Technics direct drive turntable went out a while ago, bit eventually, some day I'll have... They came before Van Halen, the Scorpions, and all the metal groups of the 80s and later (Metallica, Ozzy, Satriani, Buckethead, etc). :fireplace: "Remember when we used to treat colds and flu with chicken soup, saltwater gargles and warm tea instead of Communism?" |

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)] There's just something endearingly-nostalgic about putting a needle onto a vinyl 33 and a 1/3 record. You go back in time when you hear the pops and occasional scratches on those old records. But the SOUND is more full (and more REAL/AUTHENTIC) than most digital stuff today. Cassettes were great for the car, if you didn't have those old 8-track tapes. I couldn't afford reel-to-reel tapes. I had blue lights and Jimi Hendrix posters, booze and weed, and my treasured album collection back then. I need a time-machine to forget all this conspiratorial crap going on today. Bring back the 70s and 80s. :fireplace: "Remember when we used to treat colds and flu with chicken soup, saltwater gargles and warm tea instead of Communism?" |
