I had a new co-worker that took my join-the-Army ROTC friend Tim's place at work. He had just spent all Summer in Summit County, Colorado (Dillon/Frisco/Breck). The stories he had about hiking up all these mountain trails and getting nekkid at hot springs and drinking Coors and smoking endless bowls...

Sounded perfect back then. Watch Bronco games in the bars and restaurants. Go skiing all Winter long. Beer parties at Arapaho Basin in May and June..

Every time I hear that Joe Walsh song I think of trippy Dan the Man. I almost moved there myself right after graduation (but went to a local college instead).

Could have been camping up at 11,000', stoned/drunk out my mind with like-minded Colorado hippies, staring up at the stars and meteors..

That's crazy...I actually know someone who used to go by Dan the Man, stayed in Colorado for a while, and did a lot of the things you're describing... tounge

You've got to be kidding.

If I had to guess .. I would be surprised if Dan was even alive today. Also, back then, he only had a motorcycle, no car. Either a Honda, BMW, or Yamaha I think. He crashed that bike a few times after too many Coors on twisty Colorado mt roads. Showed me his scars from his foolishness.

Everyday, I'd bug him to tell me more tales from Summit County..

How old is the Dan the Man that you know? Did he used to ride a motorcycle in Colorado and ever live in Illinois? Blond hair and blue eyes?

He's in his 60's now and turned his life around, air force vet and worked as an electrician after that for many years. Still flying some planes he helped build today.

He did own a motorcycle when he was younger though. He moved around a lot so not sure if he stayed in Illinois. Bright blue eyes and dark blonde hair that's starting to grey.

I don't remember Dan's exact age, but he was several years older than I was (early 20s). He had medium-long dark blond hair, blue eyes, and looked a little like (a blond-) Bob Seger or a Greg Allman maybe. Always wore plaid shirts or black T-shirts. He quit his job working with me and moved out of the area before I graduated. Never saw or heard from him again. And I can't remember his last name, either.

Ask him if he ever lived in Summit County and if he ever worked at a Holiday Inn?

Re: GLP-Jukebox
We used to jokingly call Triumph "a poor-man's Rush".

They didn't deserve that though; just because they were 3-piece similar, had a guitar-playing vocalist, and were also from Canada with an alto singer (ala Geddy Lee, w/Rik Emmett).

I had their album with the song below.

I'll see him later this week so I'll ask. Wouldn't it be crazy if it was the same guy?

Bed time for me now though. Goodnight and sweet dreams everyone. grouphug

Like that song. He reminded me of Al Stewart for some reason.

Good stuff. I didn't listen to those guys much when I was younger. Although alot of the older students did, including my dopey CA-bound neighbor, Dale.
