I've wondered if the existence of someone immune to the power of the ring, a third path besides destruction or return to owner, was left out for some reason. It just doesn't make sense... disregard the most enigmatic, potentially most powerful mind in all of middle earth... the one the silent trees obeyed |

It just doesn't make sense... disregard the most enigmatic, potentially most powerful mind in all of middle earth... the one the silent trees obeyed Wow. I never thought I'd hear someone else mention this. The Barrow Downs scene was equally important, because it's where Merry got the dagger that would eventually destroy the Witch-king at the battle of the Pelennor. So many essential elements of the story left out :( They gave the character Arwen, portrayed by Tyler, extra lines and completely rewrote her part, none of it which was in the original story. Jackson took too many liberties with my favorite classic of all time!! Pity about Bombadil. I wrote an essay about him long ago. "The Eldest"...even the Silmarillion doesn't give clues as to who he really is. Glad to know someone else who is a critical Tolkien fan :) (my old Tolkien thread) Thread: Tolkien Talk: In praise of brilliance |
