I did get snowblind driving one time on a weekday during a Sierra snowstorm ... which dumped 4+ FEET of snow in 36 hours. And the roads were 100% unplowed that morning as I chained-up and still tried to go uphill for 3000 vertical feet in 10-12" of fresh snow (to go ski in untracked 15-to-1 powder).

I made it just above 7000' el, but when I hit the foot-deep snow my truck bogged-down and I (sadly) had to cross a divided highway to go back down to Bishop at 4000'. No snowplows in sight back into town!

I never did ski that day. They closed all the chairlifts anyway due to high winds (up to 180 mph on top at 11,000').

Then I hit a zero-visibility sandstorm for 25 minutes on 395 in Adelanto at a 4-way traffic light! Fucked up the paint on the truck!

That entire day just sucked bigtime...

WTH? 180 MPH winds?

It gets SERIOUSLY cray up there at 11,053'.

They have recorded 200 mph winds up there. Breaks all the windows in the buildings and also surrounding Ch 23.

A few days later you see all the damage those Sierra winds can do.

That is the windiest ski-mountain in the US.

When the winds are a-blowin' ... the (wind-blown) powder can last for daze..

And I have been heavily shocked (thru my gloves into my hands) by strong DC current, by the friction-driven upsweep of the blowing snow off the top ridge of that mountain.

To give you an idea how strong winds are in/on the Sierra peaks & ridgelines..
