Saw them in LA a few yrs before that, and tried to get to Mammoth for their free concert at Canyon Lodge one year, but missed that due to I-15 traffic headaches.. Speaking of Mammoth...are you a skier? They still have over 10' snow....and more coming all this week! I was usually the last guy off the hill during a blizzard/snowstorm - esp on Sunday afternoons when the LA sunbirds were flying back to LA on 395 and getting expensive CHP tickets. lol I once did 24 laps one powder day on Ch 23. That was fun (and very tiring).. :fireplace: "Remember when we used to treat colds and flu with chicken soup, saltwater gargles and warm tea instead of Communism?" |

Grey Eagle User ID: 72706363 United States 05/19/2019 02:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Those highlight videos/reels only show the epic lines and chutes and pillows that make for good cinematic ski-footy ... but there are PLENTY of unspoken/unseen crashes that skiers endure to pursue their passion. Quiet a few famous skiers have been killed over the last 20 yrs or so in avalanches and unfortunate falls off cliffs, among myriad ski-accidents.. For example .. McConkey died during a wingsuit and skibasing segment one spring day for MSP's film-shoot with JT Holmes in the Dolomites in 2009. His reverse-release binding failed to release and he went into a spin with no chute getting deployed. And there's Doug Coombs and JP Auclair and CR Johnson and Sarah Burke and Erik Roner, and on and on ...... RIP.
