I was very lucky growing up where I did, and I'll never forget it ever oh yes....i was quite the stargazer myself growing up...had a good teacher that encouraged it. same situation myself....country with little light pollution. but also it's the smog in the city... little things like the reddish tinge to betelgeuse or even just seeing the pleiades in their full glory. |

I was very lucky growing up where I did, and I'll never forget it ever I get to view the incredible Milky Way every night out here far away from the towns and cities and light-pollution. It appears as a billion-starred irregular-ribboned 'cloud' - sort of. Stretching much of the way across the direct-overhead sky. And you should see it at 13,000' elevation sometime. Wow!  Last night all i saw was this:  :fireplace: "Remember when we used to treat colds and flu with chicken soup, saltwater gargles and warm tea instead of Communism?" |
