I was scared of acid..had big academic plans and saw some scary things happen. But I was talking to an intergenerational group of writers and discussing how old we were when we first tried weed. As a child of the 70s, I was 11 and meeting a neighbor kid in the woods nearly every day after school to get high. Same for another person same age, but the older and younger crowds both talked about being in college or even later years.

I did LSD before I had ever been drunk or smoked pot or anything. I was 15.

Did an older kid/sibling/relative introduce you or was it something you went looking for? I didn't even see it til I went to college, probably because I lived in farm country. I read about it, I remember reading and rereading a book called 'Tuned Out' that really scared and fascinated me. (nerd alert)

It's a long story. My crazy little sister told my parents and this teacher that I was giving her drugs (lots going down in Boulder, where I lived)
Even though I was a totally good kid my parents accused me of giving my little sister drugs, it was extremely traumatic for me and I said okay, damned if I do damned if I don't.
