My Dark Hour (1969)



The backstory on this song, it's Paul's first collaboration with Steve Miller. (They would guest-star on each others' albums for the next 40+ years...highlights being Miller's guest roles on Flaming Pie, both vocals and lead guitar)

Anyway, on THIS song, you may be reminded of a similar riff....yep, you are correct: Steve Miller stole from himself, both early and often, and re-cycled melodies and lyrics. (I will try to provide more examples on this thread in due time.) "My Dark Hour" features a signature riff which would later become the main riff of "Fly Like An Eagle."

Also worthy of mention: Paul McCartney plays virtually every instrument on this track (Miller I think plays rhythm guitar)...AND chips in background vocals! Not a bad deal for Steve Miller, LOL.

Love the year 1969 in music.... I hope some of you do too
