Both Doctor Who and the green alien character from Dragon B_ll z had an entity tell them that they had darkness inside of their hearts. Doctor Who went a little crazy obsessing over the darkness in himself and the green character actually pulled the darkness out of him and it created a separate entity that he ended up fighting for years and he lost who he was until the day he reintegrated his dark self with his light self and he became his original self he had lost long ago.

Anyway I think that there's a big danger in taking advice from anyone that says that we have darkness in us that's bad or like you heard you're on the wrong path .... believing that lie is the only problem because that's all it is is a lie.

I knew I was on the wrong path though. Someone saying it just ripped the veil of denial. Part of it was being married to something so predatory and evil it was destroying my children as well as me and I was failing to keep them safe. That was the first of two signs that led me to find a way back towards sanity
