Power outages sweeping across Central Texas East dallas here. About a month ago, around 4am, we had a small power surge and then my dogs started going crazy. I got up to check them and saw a huge fire at the bottom of the power pole under the transformer. Me and my husband had noticed for months before this happened, the transformer had been leaking a black fluid and smelled very "industrial" like.. The fluid killed a large section of brushy plants/vegetation. Anyway, the fire department and oncore had said that an "aluminum filament overheated and fell off into the brush." Therefore catching the dead black area on fire. Me and my husband just wanted to know what and why the stuff was leaking from transformer. |

Power outages sweeping across Central Texas The sun reaches all parts Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22342469 And if this were due to solar activity Very large parts of the Infrastructure would be on fire. Solar activity doesn't just Touch Texas you know. Overvolting or arson Can explain this without the Kooky theory that the sun only fries Texas. I hear you AC but let's also keep an open mind for all possibilities. they have been spraying the crap out of Arizona for the last week. day and night. The entire sky has been covered with chemtrails with no break. So we really aren't getting the sun....otherwise maybe we would be seeing this also. just thinking out loud... |

Power outages sweeping across Central Texas Ok, this is the jouney lineman's explanation. Dust is the likely cause. Texas has been dry. Usually the rain washes the dust away...When there is a bulid up of dust, then fog, the minerals in the fog causes the electricity to arc to the pole and cause the pole to catch fire. So, there you have it, no conspiracy. Solar activity is not going to hit just Texas, guys. :-) Hope this helps. "Don't look back, you're not going that way." Power outages sweeping across Central Texas SHHHH it was fog and dust (wink wink) Quoting: Alufiend 29210298 nothing to see here. Like we really believe 50+ poles all having the same condition in multiple counties at the same time. 1 yes we can believe 2 ok maybe, but thats stretching it 3+ Bull shite. at least make the story convincing to stupid people. "We had an electrical surge at the station, due to excess current generation. the resulting surge caused several power poles to overheat and catch fire. The electrical regulators have been reset, and we will not have a repeat surge. Power will be restored to the effected areas as soon as the fires are put out, and ground crews finish repairs." now that is a B.S. story that stupid people will accept. unfortunately, that's 99.99% of the population |

Power outages sweeping across Central Texas And it's not even a hot day in Texas. Temp is 70 degrees so this is very, very unusual. Safe to go outside I wonder? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25512421 It doesn't matter what the temperature is. There is an accumulation of dust on the high poles. When it's a dry season, usually the power company will hose down the poles to wash the build up off the poles...Evidently, this did not happen. The fog is moisture...We all know that water is a conductor of electricity...Right? So, build up of dust along with fog causes arcing...there is your fire.
