Anonymous Coward User ID: 24433009 United States 12/07/2012 11:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are plenty of places to live where you won't have a car drive by your house all day if that's the way you want it. Maybe 10-15 cars a day drive by my mother's acreage, and she lives in the 'populated' part of South Dakota. Why put up with the bitter cold of Canada, move along the chinooks in the western great plains. Scottsbluff has fairly warm winters. |
IssueX User ID: 24586418 United States 12/07/2012 11:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | sorry when I lived in Canada I was appalled: most of the people I met were PROUD to be atheists, and they looked at me shocked and disgusted when I said I wanted to attend midnight mass for Christmas.... I had to drive 50 miles to find a single church open for midnight mass, and most of the people attending were over 60 years old...and maybe a handful of them I don't doubt there are some who believe in Canada, but I doubt he is acknowledged by most who live there. I heard a program on the CBC which ran on a series of Sundays, and it was celebrating priests who had lost their faith and had abandoned their religion...and the CBC anchors interviewing these priests (who were anonymous and usually speaking through a vocoder) were THRILLED that these priests had "come out of the closet" and finally stopped believing in an invisible man in the sky I was pretty shocked, because if nothing else, it was in extreme bad taste to run such a program, mocking religion, on a Sunday, and Canada would never do that to Muslims or Hindus...only to Christians wtf |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 15219851 Canada 12/07/2012 11:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's plenty of warmer, isolated areas in the Great Plains where you can live and be alone, no need to pick Canada. Try Eastern Colorado, Western Nebraska (Scottsbluff), Western Kansas, Western Oklahoma, or eastern Montana. But -40 degrees Celsius (without wind chill) will keep the Chinese out, its what stopped Germany in Russia. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 26372742 Canada 12/07/2012 11:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | alberta is soon going to be the CANCER capital of canada. the tar sands is TOXIC. everything is dying around there. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26372742 [link to suite101.com] Looming Ecological Disaster of Alberta Tar Sands The Alberta tar sands have created lakes of industrial mining waste, destruction of Alberta's boreal forest and are the fastest growing source of GHG emissions in Canada. Second only to Saudi Arabia in proven oil reserves, the Alberta tar sands are a looming ecological disaster. Commercial exploitation of Canada’s oil sands is hugely carbon intensive, with global environmental impacts due to high greenhouse gas emissions, wasteful of local water resources, a threat to Alberta’s boreal forest ecosystem, threatening acid rain on Western Canada and a blot on the local landscape, with toxic tailing lakes so large they are visible from space. |

And they go by a point system. They're looking for certain skills. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. That's what I remember reading..... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28870983 Thanks for the reply. So if don't have the certian skills, you are shit out of luck? *certain It's true. Getting into Canada the legal way is very difficult. Getting into Canada illegally........well.....or claiming refugee status......happens way too much. Many have now been rounded up & either have been or are about to be deported. They are tightening up the loopholes, finally. Not shipping them out or tightening up loopholes quickly enough if you ask me! Now our bloody government just allowed communists to takeover oil and gas in Alberta.. |
