The USA was the leader and center of this storm post-WWII, and the whole world built up the secret MIB world and hoaxters to make fun of UFO observers. Now the USA is isolated with even the Vatican, Italy and Great Britain now having left the pack. In this, and on so many other fronts, the USA has been isolated.
