omg people are freaking the hell out over fb being down!!!

It really is a useful website to reconnect with people you would have no other way to contact.
I've used facebook to find friends from high school, and I had a great time meeting back with them, thanks to facebook.

Some of you are being obliviously critical.
I'm not defending all of those scumbags who do nothing but use facebook all day/night.
All in all, facebook isn't to blame for anything.
The frequent users are the idiots anyway.

I have found long-lost friends, also. It's been great. The older I get, the more I say, "I wonder what happened to him/her." I have found many of those old friends on FB. It's been very nice for all of us.

You cannot believe how very helpful FB has been for the Jersey Shore people who were affected by Sandy! Lost and found pets, lost and found items are posted on a certain page.

Any information regarding when residents could visit their homes is on FB. As some of you might know, the devastation was so great that many towns on the barrier islands are closed off and residents have no access. They were displaced and are now living with relatives, friends, or in shelters. Many are still scattered in other towns on the mainland. FB has been the main source of daily communication between authorites and residents. They are being informed daily regarding water, gas, and electricity repairs. FB has been invaluable!

Yes of course I have a facebook account but had no idea it went down ... Because it's useless dribble on broadband connecting idiots everywhere to scratch there ass and sniff...
Funny things I've seen on facebook but the worst was a page dedicated to ho's and sluty bitches( made by and posted in by men un there 20,30's) the sickest part was the ho's and sluty butches were at oldest 16 and the youngest posted 11, disgusting. It was a network of Sickos that had popularity and thought that they were so cool...
Others show pics of drug use powdering of suspicious firearms and incriminating evidence of plenty....
It's like thecops don't need snitches anymore because apparently y'all not only tell on yourselves you provide the video the pix and the sound bite.
When they come knocking your doors down with warrants for activity you posted and then use that same posted material as evidence, don't cry or use a played out race card In fact ask the arresting kofdicer for a mirror and slap yaself because the evidence against you was provided by you.

Or the more realistic less conspiracy is they are systematically serving the global communications network to minimize any reports leaking from possibly devastated regions.

It does establish some stereotypes as more than accurate but factual (birds of a feather) and the prostitution that is openly done and still is .. Still not sure why so many people are hooked on it my only guess is that a lot of people, even married people with children are very bored an lonely because they spend so much time there. Sure when I first joined it was like having a new toy and fun to reconnect with people, but to watch people post the most inane banter day after day for over 4 years now is insane... I post an update or a location check-in once every 2 or 3 months so my family knows I'm alive. Other than that I rarely go on that site anymore, I prefer a regular email to communicate or a text, my entire facebook world does not need to know what I am doing and with who, nor do i think they would even care.

On a serious note about the dreaded Facebook, here is my own situation.

My daughter and her boyfriend when travelling a short while back, they took a year to go and see all the places they wanted to see, they had a working visa and worked their way round in order to finance their own travels.

They are back home now.

Here is where FB really came into its own, we were able to keep in contact, photos would go onto her page and her friends and the rest of the family were all able to see their adventures as they went along. Truly, it really was a handy site.

Phonecalls were not always possible, due to the different time zones, my shift work and not to mention the cost phoning home. The internet was a different matter, they got online when they could and I would get messages and be able to return them without worrying about the time differences or any other aspect.

There is good and bad in everything, this includes Facebook.
