Quoting: anon 27703830 I've seen reports of people using DMT for alcohol DT. I'm not surprised to see folks using Ayahuasca. It is likely more effective. There are recovery centers investigating the use of DMT as well. Anecdotal reports show a complete stop to withdrawal symptoms as well as no cravings whatsoever for about a week after use of the psychedelic. This was done in a carefully controlled environment, but these things are dissociative enough that it may not matter. |

I am not sure where you are, but find an ayahuasca group in your area and see if there is someone who can put you in touch with a shaman/healer/ayahuascero and try the medicine with an experienced leader and/or group. I don't expect that the journey will be ll that pleasant, but it will be profound ad healing. It is an amazing spirit medicine. You could also get into contact with the Native American Church and find a peyote shaman. Having done both many times, I believe ayahuasca would probably be better for your situation. I have known many people who have used heroin and have said that only ayahuasca was able to get them to eliminate the cravings. Blessings to you. Wishing you a beautiful healing. |

King Kratom User ID: 1220480 United States 12/12/2012 08:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | KRATOM. I weened a friend of the junk with Kratom. 3-4 Cups of 2 TBS strength per day along with multiple physical actives and superfood smoothies. He came and stayed at my house (in the country) under my rules, and had no way of making any drug connections. After 12 days, the detox was complete as well as any suffering from any withdrawal symptoms. The biggest part of the success is that he wanted to be clean. Which he has been for 3 years running. You don't hear to much about Kratom, but then again, if there was a cheap natural way to get off the junk, it would put the billion dollar rehap industry out of business. |

I study Addiction (Addictology) since more than 20 years and i can say that the overwhelming majority of Addicts are addicted to Addiction! When they stop Heroin they start to Drink, with Alcohol comes a Party and more Alcohol and with tooooo much Alcohol we can see a lost of control and a backstep to Heroin! The Withdrawal is the most easiest part of a manifest Addiction, the real work start when the Patients feel better! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 29256427 Japan 12/12/2012 08:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | don't know if OP is here or not...but Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27338283 Kratom is reported to help people with opiate addictions very well because you noticeably feel a "high" It takes ALL withdrawl symptoms away! IMHO It's how I did it Because the Stuff inside of Kratom is docking on the same Receptor like Opiates, this reduce the Symptomes but extend the Withdawal, it do not really help! Ketamine works also very well (because of the docking on a Opiate Receptor) but only as long as you use it! I think i would use Ibogaine and than moving in to a Retreat for a long Time because a Heroin Addiction need a long, very long Time, in average more than 12,5 Years but every year kills 10% of the User in the Statistics! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 20675367 United States 12/12/2012 08:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People talk about Clonidine being the gold standard to help calm withdrawal symptoms but there is another drug Tizanidine or the brand name zanaflex that has less side effects. That's not too say it doesn't any at all ts but these appear to be less in severity than Clonidine There have been numerous studies using the drug for Withdrawal protocols and the majority who used it were able to get through the acute phase (10 Days) and a high percentage were able to stay off opiates/opioids indefinitely. While it is classified as a muscle relaxant it has similar properties to Clonidine as it also acts as a alfa2 adreneregic agonist. It does not have the same affinity for the receptors that Clonidine has so it appears that it is tolerated better. Definitely something to keep in mind when speaking with your Physician. |

KonspiracyKitty User ID: 1295140 United States 12/13/2012 04:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know what you're going through... I've been on methadone for a while. Two years ago, I ran out of my methadone and foolishly took about 20mg of Subutex less than 24 hours after my last dose of methadone. It precipitated the nastiest withdrawal I'd ever experienced as I hadn't made it more than a week or so without opiates and never had full-blown withdrawal. Ugh. That night was 3rd worst few hours of my life. But it goes away, gets better. Something I was given for withdrawals back before I got on methadone was clonidine, a hypertension drug which which helps get rid of anxiety, the crawly feeling, the kicking, and the goosebump omg-burning up/omg-freezing alternations. They also gave me Seroquel for sleep. It's non habit forming, but it's main use is as an atypical anti-psychotic...so it worked but I was afraid to take it for more than a couple days. Both of those things will help, and as they're non-scheduled drug you'll be able to get them if you just ask the doc. I was also given something for the nasty stomach cramping, and prescription ibuprofen for the aches. There's nothing shameful about getting a little help to ease the pain. |
