I nominate my dear friend in the Philippines. He has a serious kidney problem and has slowly made progress. I have been over there several times to see him. He struggles, making ice candy and baskets to live. He worked for a politician as an accountant and the politician tried to get him to do illegal stuff involving gambling and drugs, so my friend quit. The politician had him beat nearly to death, and this ruined my friends ability to work in his field. I have been helping him, he tries to use as little as possible from me to get by. His mom is near death and he has a disfunctional family. A dinner like this would be like heaven for him and his beautiful dog. I bought him the dog, and that plus me on skype will probably be all he has for fellowship to celebrate christmas.

OP wont engage you but I will. How much do you get every month from the state for those Foster kids huh? And the addicted black baby would be a needy child so theres money to be made there too! A few toys? WOOP! What have you done for free to make a difference cause all I see is someone who has lined their pockets with money and then wants to say they are some good Christian! I have relatives who did foster care and adoptions they were far from christians and they did it for money and to say HEY LOOK here what we're doing..and they get paid well. SOOOOOOOOOOOO. OP gets nothing from this so go put your money you made from the state where your mouth is.

That is awful. Really awful. I wish I could help in the Phillipines, but the company I'm working with ships only to USA. I really wish I could help. But, there are some generous people coming on board. We can see what we can do. Hang in there with me.

This is a very nice offer. However we discussed Christmas dinner this year and decided we just wanted something simple like spinach quiche and salad. Light the candles, add a little wine - maybe eggnog and voila.

Still combing through the thread. I've sent glp mails to a few people that want to help. I need to put the numbers together and account for the others that are in need. I don't think it's that many people, but I don't want to miss anyone.

You people are ficken fantastic!

A lot of churches are hurting/strapped because of so many of their members needing help, but only having a finite number of funds to help with.

Some people aren't comfortable going to churches. And it would be so much nicer for some to just stay home that day and enjoy the family and a nice meal, without having to ask neighbors for help. And there are many places in America today where the neighbors aren't so caring. Sad but true.

I just stopped back in to say how BEAUTIFUL this thread is becoming! Aside from the few spoilers, the real meaning of the holiday is being demonstrated here. It does my heart good to see so many people stepping up to the plate to take a swing at the monster of separation. I don't see a bunch of lofty "haves" feeding the poor dejected "have nots", i see humanity at it's finest! joining together to make the best out a less than perfect situation. Big heartfelt HUGS all around!

Christmas dinner is a moment to gather with family and enjoy all being together, and that´s what I like about it. It doesn´t have to be an expensive dinner or have gifts.

Perhaps skin shades should determine what latitude we should live at, little pale, closer to the equator, little too dark move north.
