And you mentioned Switzerland...they GIVE guns to their adult citizens and train them in their use. The reason there's so little gun-related crime there is that everyone is armed! Schools are perfect targets for insane gunmen. Columbine...Virginia Tech...now CT. Shooters know they can kill a LOT of people when there's nobody around to fire back at them. I asked before and I'll ask again: why don't these mass shootings take place at gun ranges? because gun ranges dont have nearly the head count as a school. |

Call me pessimistic, but I find it ironic how Americans are all about freedom & rights & how guns re-inforce your freedom - when you're currently living in fear & NEED to carry weapons for your own & others safety. I played Doom a lot in 1995. I now lobby on the Hill with Congress for financial legislation that serves The Powers That Be more than the sheep. You do the math. So, are you known for walking around with a shotgun? Hell no, that's the point. I'm known for walking around terrorizing Congress with threats of removing our support their re-election if they don't go for the legislation we want (none of which is ever anything *bad* necessarily or I wouldn't be able to do this for a living). What's worse? Doom and GTA certainly didn't groom me for that. BUT these dads who think its fine to play first person shooters day in and day out with their 6 year olds are wrong. We need kids games again and to keep them away from mature rated games until they are older. The teen ratings on many games need to be slid to mature rating as well. This goes for tv and movies too. All the super hero movies that should be for kids are crafted more for the parents who used to read the comics when they were kids. There is no innocent media For Kids anymore really. The cartoons of the past 15 years have been frenetic, twisted and bizarre. Everything has merged into "adults must be able to enjoy this too" and because of that so much is inappropriate. |
