Obama Mandates Black Boxes for All Cars – Beginning in 2014

This pisses me off I just got a 2013 jeep last month today I was reading the owners manual and it says In addition to the vehicle manufacturer law enforcement or "other parties" can read the information if they have access to the vehicle or the EDR. My takeaway is who the hell is the other parties and they must be able to access my EDR without being near the Jeep. Scary.

The mandatory chip implant for all will come right after.

Yeah that's horseshit...I took a ride with a client to lunch the other day and his company car had a GPS data transmitter plugged into the OBDII computer hook up thing...that way his company knows how fast he goes, if the car is running right, and where he is at any given time.

Yeah I won't be participating in that...

I was doing some research on this, and most cars since 1996 have the black box. Now you can remove them if you want to, but when that mandate passes in 2015 it will be against the law to remove.
Then I thought to myself I can get an old car with no CPU and then I can beat the system. I was informed by a co worker that my phone has GPS ( I knew that) and that I could still be tracked.
I feel if its not an RFID chip or a black box, or what ever micro tracking cell they pull into flu shots. We are all going to have to just deal.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- You've likely heard of black boxes in airplanes, but they're in cars, too. They record crash info, like speed and whether the driver was buckled up.


"If the police are called to what they believe as a crime scene, they can seize anything and everything they want," Wampler said.

That is something several consumer rights groups want to change.

"We feel that the owner of the vehicle should have control over that data and it should not be accessed without his permission or without some court order," AAA Public Affairs Spokesman Mike Right said.

The government is on the brink of requiring all new cars be built with black boxes.

How long will it take them to install wireless units so this data can be sent to a giant database. When that happens how long until the insurance companies pay off the right politicians so they can get access to the data base and charge based off of compiled driving data...It will be for our "safety" and the "good" of the "children"...

Just another case of King Barry overstepping his authority. He claims any power that we don't hold onto tight enough to stop him. This is another reason not to buy a new truck. Flip this around:

You're falsely accused of a crime. Let's say that you're Brief, a biggish white guy that looks a little stereotypical. A black family claims that you burned a cross on their lawn, and that they saw your truck there (because Brief has to drive a truck. Even if he doesn't. It's a rule, I think...).

Now, after the police lock him up for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and beat him for resisting arrest, even though he went meekly as he was supposed to, because that would be funny and ironic...

The black box in his truck shows that he wasn't anywhere near the crime scene at all, exonerating him.

If you aren't committing crimes, then having that kind of data can only help you.

*Yes, someone could frame you, but I submit that the more steps, the more points of information that the government (or whoever might do that kind of thing) has to jump through to frame you, the harder it will be for them to actually get it done.

Right now they do it pretty easily, but if you can walk into court with a hundred different things to show their fake data is not real, then it works in your favor, not against it.

So why is this bad for the average citizen? I don't commit crimes at all, and don't even speed, so why should I worry over this?

Knowing that you are being watched will just help those on the fence as far as criminal behavior to improve.
