Bush slashes domestic programs, boosts defense
1 hour, 58 minutes ago

President Bush proposed on Monday to boost defense spending, slow Medicare's growth and cut a host of domestic programs in a $2.77 trillion budget that sought to soothe Republican frustrations over high deficits.

With congressional elections looming in November, the fiscal 2007 blueprint came under swift attack from Democrats, who said elderly and working Americans would bear the brunt of Bush's fiscal mismanagement.

A prominent Republican, Sen. Arlen Specter (news, bio, voting record) of Pennsylvania, said Bush's proposed funding cuts for health and education were "scandalous." Specter chairs a Senate panel that oversees spending on such programs.

He was particularly critical of the White House's call for eliminating an anti-drug program and a new cord-blood stem cell bank, as well as proposed funding levels for the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and the "Head Start" education program for low-income preschoolers.

RN huh. Ask her about the 'continueing' education she must fullfill each year. Used to be free, wait until she must pay $350 for the elects and $600 for the state license, your story will change then.

If not, then you're in the same class of others who dont care for people that don't have the means of obtaining an education.

Bush is proposing cuts I doubt congress will do anything in an election year. if bush and the repubicans were not insane and kept the 100's of billions they spent in Iraq here at home we wouldn't be in this finacial mess they gave us. We elected Bush twice,I guess we all deserve whats coming.

This was to be expected. Poor Americans - outside of a revolution there's no hope for you.

Vote and your vote gets changed by a machine. Complain to your representatives and you get shit because they're in coherts with the Bush administration and concerned more about lining their own pockets than worrying about the riff-raff that makes up most of the population.

Don't worry though, the government will take care of you. They'll cut off your social security and medicare so you can die earlier and in poverty. If you're young they'll get your ass in the service and ship you out to die overseas. If they can't use you, they'll put you in one of those concentration camp jails they're getting ready for Americans. People in Russia have more rights than Americans today. And to think, some people actually voted for the dictator in power now.

Yes, and Damn Mad about it to.

Almost done reading "Hilter's Wars" and the parallels are extremely tight.

Trouble is, neither Bush nor the whole of Congress combined cannot personally pay back the American people, no, they are writing checks that not even the American people are going to be able to pay.
