This is a pretty interesting article, although it is mostly hearsay.

I can't imagine that toppling Correa would be easy. He is well-loved by his people. The citizens there speak his praises, non-stop. He has done a lot to help the poorer and has nearly eliminated people starving. He also made it a law that all children attend school and the government pay for their uniforms. Before his administration, only the wealthy attended school.

As I was told while driving through the Andes with a tour guide , "before Correa, you would see 8-10 children sitting alongside the road crying from hunger. Now, those kids are in school and their parents have learned how and when to plant."

I also wonder why the US would want to topple Correa. They use the American dollar as currency and there is a pretty large American ex-pat population there.
