How come both Russia and Georgia are reporting this earthquake as a 'strong' 7.0 but the US says: Magnitude 4.5 - GEORGIA (SAK'ART'VELO) - usivau 2006 February 6 09:43:27 UTC A light earthquake occurred at 09:43:27 (UTC) on Monday, February 6, 2006. The magnitude 4.5 event has been located in GEORGIA (SAK'ART'VELO). (This event has been reviewed by a seismologist.) [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] |

The significance was, that stronger earthquakes would appear to be less severe under the new guidelines. |

Just a silent observer here, red herring for me was when the Director resigned in December. Then they took the magnitude scales (the little visuals) off of the world and US views. And they made the views zoomed out from before so now you can't tell one little square from another unless you take time to click click click. Getting ready for the birth pangs? |
