[link to www.infragard.net]

At its most basic level, InfraGard is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the private sector. InfraGard is an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States.

Re: Has anyone here tried to join InfraGuard? Helping the FBI?
I have been member of InfraGuard for more than a decade.

Straight up, there is NOTHING nefarious about this organization, regardless of what you have read,
seen on YouTube, heard AJ discuss, etc. We don't get special credentials, members can't kill with immunity,
or any of the other bullshit floating around out there. Yes, there are certain "perks" for being a member,
which I will discuss further down.

InfraGuard is an information SHARING partnership between the FBI and the private sector.

Industry shares info about known vulnerabilities, weak points, etc.. The FBI shares information about known
threats to the different sectors, ways to mitigate those threats, as well as ideas on how the resolve
the vulnerabilities industry shared with them. This symbiotic relationship is essential and has panned out
time and time again.

As an example, attempts by hackers to penetrate the networks of a refinery, or the systems used
to open and close the spillways of a dam, can be reported to the feds, who in turn, work with
CISA, the DoD, NSA, etc.. to identify the perps and shut it down.

In a reverse example, the feds regularly supply planning and response resources to particular sectors.
For instance, training on identifying industrial espionage, telltale indicators for vehicle and truck bombs,
etc.. This has proven invaluable recently as there is lots of spying taking place on those institutions and
companies working on therapeutics and vaccines for the coronavirus. Considering the untold billions to be made
by companies that actually produce something useful, there are lots of prying eyes. This goes far beyond
the standard China / Russia claims. Even friendly nations are trying to get the scoop.

Back when the whole program was set up, there were loads of terror attacks taking place. As part of the broader
PROACTIVE effort to secure the nation (as opposed to REACTIVE), a program like this was absolutely necessary.

There are 16 critical infrastructure "sectors" whose assets, systems, and networks, whether physical or virtual,
are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating
effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof.

Those 16 areas of critical infrastructure are as follows:

Chemical Sector
Commercial Facilities Sector
Communications Sector
Critical Manufacturing Sector
Dams Sector
Defense Industrial Base Sector
Emergency Services Sector
Energy Sector
Financial Services Sector
Food and Agriculture Sector
Government Facilities Sector
Healthcare and Public Health Sector
Information Technology Sector
Nuclear Reactors, Materials, and Waste Sector
Transportation Systems Sector
Water and Wastewater Systems Sector

Joining InfraGuard is extremely simple.

1. Have a reason, such as a job in one of the critical infrastructure sectors.
2. Apply for membership. As part of that application process, you must give the OK
for an FBI background check.

Amongst the benefits of joining is seeing threat information not normally supplied to the general public.

Another is access to the Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS) and, if your job warrants
it, the Wireless Priority Service. These services are there to facilitate communications regarding protection
or recovery of operations within one of the critical infrastructure sectors in the case phone lines or cell
networks being jammed up.

I have been given access pins twice: The first was in the runup to a hurricane that slammed into the U.S.
The second was early on in the coronavirus outbreak when no one knew how bad it was going to get.

If you work in any of these key sectors, I would strongly encourage you to join.
