The Mayans called it their thing. It's still when the earth is furthest from the sun. Time zone, leap year, whatever. when the earth is furthest from the sun LMFAO did you go to school FFS?? The seasons occur because the Earth's axis of rotation is not perpendicular to its orbital plane but at an angle of about 23.44° half the year the Northern Hemisphere is inclined toward the Sun while for the other half year the Southern Hemisphere has this distinction. Earth's orbit is elliptical, which means it's closest to the Sun once a year ( perihelion), and furthest from the Sun once a year ( aphelion). |
