I got out of retail after 30 years in various quite good retail jobs. I got burned out on dealing with the public and I do recommend janitorial work as a transition out of retail.

You get to work by yourself when places are closed and no one's around, you can listen to music and think whatever you want, you can even sing. You get good exercise, that's definitely a plus. And indeed it does pay better than retail.

Try to get a job in a fun place where people are having fun, it's not too bad cleaning up after a party, it's a good vibe.

Oh and yeah, I did get a Christmas bonus, a fun and thoughtful one and fifty bucks.

last 3 years I have gotten like 30-35 dollars cash in a christmas card, this year - just the card haha

We are getting hosed for about 20 billion. They should be making minimum wage until we are paid back in full or close them down so that successful car manufactures will have a fair shake. The end of the unions and their thugs can't come quick enough they are no longer needed or wanted and they are made up of mindless members that can't do their own thinking.

Pretty fortunate where I work. Privately owned company. Our bonus is a percentage of our salary for the year. Turns out to be about 1 & 1/2 months worth of Pay. They treat us really good at Christmas time.

Not here..in fact at my husbands company if you meet all criteria and hit all your numbers etc they pay for you a trip to someplace the following yr all expenses paid so you can go hang with all your fellow employees on ur vacation time instead of a christmas bonus..WTF? Who wants to do that shit right?

My boss is too much of a tightwad to pay me a christmas bonus. Guess that is what happens when you are self employed.
