Jeremiah 10:1-10: This is what the LORD says: "Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them. 3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. 4 They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter. 5 Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good." 6 No one is like you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. 7 Who should not revere you, O King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you. 8 They are all senseless and foolish; they are taught by worthless wooden idols. 9 Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz. What the craftsman and goldsmith have made is then dressed in blue and purple-- all made by skilled workers. 10 But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30661468 Sigh. I've posted this many times, but I guess it needs posting again. Our symbols, traditions, celebrations, and rituals in and of themselves are inherently empty of all meaning. It is we who give meaning to them. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that if Jesus were in my living room this morning, He would probably help with the tinsel. We become like that to which we are devoted. - Choose wisely. |

Dried Up Hag User ID: 1443836 United States 12/23/2012 09:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My theory is that dogs are like small children....they don't have a developed ego to block their perception of the spirit world......which is probably true of most or even all animals....just my opinion... I had a beautiful lab that was my constant companion. He was at my side no matter where I went. My family moved into a house back in 2003. There was a room in the house that I used for storage. My dog refused to go into that room. Even when I went in the room to work, he would sit just outside the door and whine at me. If I closed the door, he would push it open so he could still see me, but he would resist all attempts to get him to enter it. I've got a photo of him doing this....Also, he would periodically go into the hall and bark and growl at that door. Anyways, I decided to turn the room into an office. Shortly after, I began to be awakened every morning by something/one knocking on that door. Five knocks....then a pause, then five more knocks....over and over. My husband at first didn't hear it. But my dog and I did......my dog would lift his head and growl. One day when my husband and I were out, my daughter called me on the cell, terrified. She told me that someone was knocking on the office door...and I'd never told her about it, because I didn't want to freak her out. Then, my step daughter, who was in her twenties, moved into the house with us. In the morning after her first night in that room, she told me that she had sensed a presence in that room....again - I'd never told her about anything. Then, finally one day, I saw the "presence." I thick black column of shadow. There is a whole lot of other stuff that was going supernaturally that I haven't touched on. Over a period of about 3 to 4 years, there was a lot of supernatural phenomena that was going on....most of it pretty scary. But at the heart of it, my dog was always responding to the activity in ways that convinced me he could see the things I was seeing and more...... |

I've been noticing it more and more, my dogs sneeze and rub their eyes when they catch a wiff of Chinese products. It's pretty tough to find gifts these days that weren't made there. Just sayin. |

One of my dogs once went through a phase when he was a pup where he was aloof towards the water pump outside, would stop and BARK. Then he'd walk up to it all stiff, he didn't trust it lol. |
