Anonymous Coward User ID: 30877948 Portugal 12/26/2012 03:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good Morning. Waiting on the southern tier of the squall line to reach the Florida Big Bend. Two points of note from the most recent Tallahassee NWS discussion...This storm is deepening as it heads towards the Eastern Seaboard. Also, interesting discussion about the "why" behind general weakening of these lines after they pass through the Florida Panhandle headed East towards the Big Bend. Some of us talked about this yesterday......Now I have to figure out (call them) to ask what factors in Apalachee Bay cause stabilization. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TALLAHASSEE FL 1109 PM EST Tue Dec 25 2012 19 UTC regional mesoanalysis shows the surface low continues to deepen over Western Louisiana now down to 998 mb. Further to the east into South Central Georgia and the Florida Big Bend, the stabilizing influence of Apalachee Bay will likely diminish the intensity of the squall line somewhat [link to www.wunderground.com] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 30886421 Portugal 12/26/2012 08:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | December 26th Significant Severe Weather Threat By Andrew at 8:46 PM The Storm Prediction Center is forecasting another dangerous severe weather situation tomorrow, December 26th, after an already destructive day along the Gulf Coast. We are already seeing the storm system responsible for this destruction start to ease up on the Gulf Coast and start its trek northeast. However, as it does so, another area of potentially dangerous weather will evolve along the Southeast coastline. Cities like Raleigh, Charlotte and Wilmington will be at risk for the worst of these storms. Discussion: As the storm treks northeast, lower level winds will maintain their speed, possibly strengthening, providing a base to strong storms. Readily-available Gulf moisture and instability will flourish in the Southeast, as the warm front lifts this moisture north. A trailing cold front will kick off the event with individual cells, possibly in linear form thanks to overnight outflow boundaries and existing convection. As the day goes on, lower level winds will strengthen over the area of interest, promoting both a damaging wind and tornado threat. -Andrew [link to theweathercentre.blogspot.de] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 30888012 Portugal 12/26/2012 08:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tornado in USA on Wednesday, 26 December, 2012 at 03:45 (03:45 AM) UTC. Description At least two tornadoes have touched down in Texas on Christmas Day as chunks of the eastern and southern parts of the state remain under a broad tornado watch. National Weather Service meteorologist Greg Carbin said one tornado was reported in Trinity County and another in Houston County. He said it appears only one building was damaged in the East Texas city of Crockett in Houston County. A Tornado Warning was in effect until noon Tuesday for Chambers, Harris and Liberty counties. Tornado warnings had been in effect for several counties earlier on Christmas Day. Authorities said a powerful storm toppled a tree onto a pickup truck in the Houston area, killing the driver. Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Thomas Gilliland says the tree fell onto the truck around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday. He said the man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The tree was toppled by a storm system that was forecast to bring thunderstorms and tornadoes across the region. Thousands of residents were left without power. [link to hisz.rsoe.hu] |
