At least half of the population (it seems) in most western nations "boast" a diverse citizenry that claim allegiance to other nations. Where I live, I wouldn't be exaggerating to say that I see more Mexican flag bumper stickers on vehicles than American ones. The only flag I see flying proudly all year long at a residence within a few mile radius of my house is a Puerto Rican flag. Here in America, everyone is something else before they are an American. They are AFRICAN-America, LATIN-American, anything but just plain American. Many first generation immigrants do indeed love this country, but second and third generation immigrants loathe it and seek only to get as much free stuff as they can while giving back as little as possible. Every politician of note seems to be a dual-citizen of another nation, where there is a clear conflict of interest. What is best for America isn't always best for that other nation and even if we assumed pure intentions on the part of the politicians that creates a huge problem. I can go on and on, but the theme here is clear: for a startling number of Americans, America come second. The Chinese are mainly one people, of one heritage and of one race. They certainly have their problems, but such things can be overcome and they can be united as a people. The division in western nations will only get worse. The unity in China can only grow more powerful. |
