looking for a biz mentor
I have been self employed for 20 years mowing lawns. It has almost fallen apart due to economy, my lack of business skills etc. I worked for free 1 day a week for 3 years for a pest control guy i met on a lawn forum and am now certified in pest control for lawns and structural. Was told I had highest score on both exams. Once my ailing mowers die I have no money to replace them. I am happier doing fertilization etc and would like to switch from mowing to full time pest control and need advice on advertising etc on a limited budget.

Re: looking for a biz mentor
The best way to get clients for any business:

Make a list of 100 people who know you exist.

Your dentist, dry cleaner, Mom's hair dresser, neighbors.

Go to everyone on your list and ask for HELP building your business.

Ask, "I was wondering if you could mention me to anyone who needs ___________________". Hand them 2 Biz cards with a great offer for first time clients.

Order the biz cards for free at Vista Print.com

The state requires 3 years of work experience. I had 500 cards printed and still trying to save enough money to get my truck lettered properly instead of stick on letters and some embroidered work shirts.
