Re: Immortals walk amongst us.
i was 18, started working at SUBWAYS in Central Florida.
it was summer, hot, late afternoon.the windows faced outside and i noticed an old man walking past the store on the sidewalk, headed west.
he wore robes, dirty filthy OLD looking ratty robes.
i cannot tell you what color they were greyish brownish something.
looked homeless, walked slowly.
tall man bent over forwards a bit, STAFF in one hand.
i couldnt tell much of his footwear but he did wear something just as colorless as his robes.
something was off though.

i was mesmerized.i couldnt stop looking at him as he passed by outside.
bearded, long long beard.this was an OLD man.
this wasnt a costume.
and although he walked slowly he seemed to not be like us, idk, mentally?
he just walked, with that staff.slow and sure and strong.
he was old but it seemed he was very strong.
this man put off such a PRESENCE i have never seen before or since.like waves.
i know i saw him but im not sure he was real.
he was so different, looking like a super old man, yet there was something just off, like he was not being seen like he was not a part of civilization yet he was walking through the streets!
idk why he was there or where he was going.

you have no idea the struggle i had inside of myself.
there was something just unworldly about him that i wanted to know!
i almost ran out of the store and down the street to talk to him but that frightened me and i was very happy to have my new job.
i watched him until he was out of sight, walking that walk not knowing what the hell i just saw or who he is!

he didnt seem to belong here.
so out of place.
but he was real and alive.

when i hear the word immortal i think of him.

Beautiful story Rob... I have a few of my own like that. Yours rings true like a bell. And yes, a 10 second view can stay with you forever. That sighting was a gift.

Maybe an old friend of yours from the other side of the veil saying hello.

If there is anyone out there who still reads a book once in awhile, a good science fiction take on the topic of immortals Is “The Boat of a Million Years” by Poul Anderson.

Most look the age at which they 'discovered' immortality. As others said, we are not necessarily talking 100% immortals, just people who have drastically slowed down aging. There are actually many many types and colors of immortals... I heard from reliable sources of people who look 60 when they are 300. I met one guy who looked 30... but I knew he was much older. My teacher refused to tell me how old he was. lol.

Then there are those who can incarnate at will, and disincarnate again whenever they feel like it. But there are rules governing how, why or when they interact with people. Contact is rare. At least for me, it is right now...

Re: Immortals walk amongst us.
but they can die a physical death. Some may be superior in healing and immune system. Generally the older they are the better their healing is because they have had nothing but time to adapt to disease.

This does not apply to the secluded. The secluded may be weaker, driven to seclusion either to wait out for different times, or sickness of life without the will to end it.

Both active and secluded are strong in the mind. They know mental dicipline. Many immortal have died, just not of old age. The longer an immortal, lives the larger the probability for survival becomes.

Some immortals view human society and life like a game of chess. They are the watchers, they move the pieces from the outside. Others have taken up the sword, involving themselves, they feel as though they are gods.

Capturing an immortal, finding a dead immortal, these are not possible today. No proof can be given. A dead immortal's brain cannot be tested for the wealth of knowledge and pure skill for all things. Their blood may prove to be strong with many antibodies and an incredible immune system that an athlete may have, but this would no be a remarkable, stunning, or unique find. Even with no identity, an immortal would just be another John Doe in the books. This is why there is no "proof" of immortals since times when people were open to believe such things.

The sensative can sometimes notice an immortal. I do not know the answer to this, I do not know why. But to the sensative, they may take notice to the one out of a croud. Is it behavior communication, the way they move.. or perhaps mental development over time. I believe it to be body language.

Immortals do not have super powers and mind control abilities. Many are remarkable. Time has given them the chance to hone their reaction times and not only learn.. but perfect techniques in various skills. Physically there is a different between knowing your body for 30 years and knowing it for 300. With more time you may move different, react faster, know the very best way to react to many situations. The mental dicipline only enhances their abilities, and together their physical and mental turn into heavily increased survival. Some could be viewed as gods, being mystical, or having powers simply because of their perfected movement and thinking.

Now you know more about the immortals.

Re: Immortals walk amongst us.
Reading this... epic:

[link to www.alchemylab.com (secure)]

About 1760, an English newspaper, the London Mercury, quite seriously published the following story: “The Comte de Saint-Germain presented a lady of his acquaintance, who was concerned at growing old, with a vial of his famous elixir of long life. The lady put the vial into a drawer. One of her servants, a middle-aged woman, thought the vial contained a harmless purge and drank the contents. When the lady summoned her servant next day, there appeared before her a young girl, almost a child. It was the effect of the elixir. A few drops more and I have no doubt the servant would have answered her mistress with infantile screams!”

“Has anyone ever seen me eat or drink?” said Saint-Germain, as he was passing through Vienna, to a Herr Graeffer who offered him some Tokay. Everyone who knew him agreed in saying that though he liked sitting down to table with a numerous company, he never touched the dishes. He was fond of offering his intimate friends the recipe of a purge made of senna pods. His principal food, which he prepared himself, was a mixture of oatmeal.

But is it really so surprising that the authors of memoirs depict Saint-Germain as retaining the same physical appearance during a whole century? Human life may have a duration infinitely longer than that ordinarily attributed to it. It is the activity of our nerves, the flame of our desire, the acid of our fears, which daily consume our organism. He who succeeds in raising himself above his emotions, in suppressing in himself anger and the fear of illness, is capable of overcoming the attrition of the years and attaining an age at least double that at which men now die of old age. If the face of a man who is not tormented by his emotions should retain its youth, it would be no miracle. Not long ago a London medical periodical reported the case of a woman who at seventy-four had preserved ” the features and expression of a girl of twenty, without a wrinkle or a white hair. She had become insane as the result of an unhappy love affair, and her insanity consisted in the perpetual reliving of her last separation from her lover.” From her conviction that she was young she had remained young. It may be that a subjective conception of time, and the suppression of impatience and expectation, enable a highly developed man to reduce to a minimum the normal wear and tear of the body. The Comte de Saint-Germain asserted also that he had the capacity of stopping the mechanism of the human clock during sleep. He thus almost entirely stopped the physical wastage that proceeds, without our knowing it, from breathing and the beating of the heart.

I have realized that deep down all cells have the capacity to be immortal. We just suppress that potential with dark thoughts and a belief that we have to die.

If we collect enough voltage in the cells and energy centers we could slow down the aging process.

If we purify the prostate, pineal, pituitary and other glands, we may secrete enough of the internal elixirs to rejuvenate ourselves.

Life is just a dream, anyway...

Well controlling your thoughts in order to think or not think is in of itself having a thought. One doesn't need to do anything, except not give the thoughts any attention. Then they will just fade out, instead of cascade into a series of thoughts in rapid fire. The thought comes, the thought goes, like a wave. Eventually and quite naturally they will try less and less to snag your attention and drag you off into lalaland , until only peacefulness remains. Then one is ready to start.
