Re: Fox News article: "We're now one step closer to America's COMING CIVIL WAR"
As someone who genuinely enjoys reading history, being a critical thinker, being educated and rational, a prepper, a spiritual person, it just seems inevitable.

This makes me very sad because there were terrible losses in the USA during the Civil War. Simply horrific things happened, in war and in the prison camps on both sides.

People will get burned out literally.

They'll lose everything. Starvation will happen when what meager crops can be raised, be lost due to disease, pests, drought, etc. Most won't know how to raise crops when Civil War eventually comes and the smallest mistake or lack of knowledge will doom them.

The deaths of soldiers always translate into plague, contaminated groundwater, lack of food, lack of life-affirming work being done because resources are allocated to war efforts.

A lot of people will end up being soldiers and die pointlessly.

When war comes, an entire generation can die or be in such low numbers as to significantly impact the whole country. Think about Britain during WW2.

Why in the world did we let the threat of terrorism threaten out most precious liberties? It's insane and doing the work of the enemy.
 Quoting: Don'tBeAfraid

What scares me more, is if it does come to that....what is to stop another country from pouncing on that as an advantage to invade and take over a large portion of this country?

United we stand, divided we fall.

As an Ex Soldier I swore an oath to my country.

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I am and will always be that soldier.

It is my belief that the US military which is responsible for external security will largely if not completely stay out of an internal fight.

I don't think obama can count on them. That is the reason for racheting up and militarizing DHS.

Re: Fox News article: "We're now one step closer to America's COMING CIVIL WAR"
Fox or Faux and the "gov't" would like nothing more than a civil uprising. Why do you think this gun thing is up at all other than no matter what you do they see it as playing into their hands for the next tightening of the garrot.

Paul, twice already no more than a mechanical rabbit in a circular dog race. A mindf*ck and he backed out (again) abruptly, without so much as a thank you for running yourselves ragged.

It's all bs. Quit feeding the beast and reacting to everything. If a law is unreasonable then hit ignore.

I see now the problem with this oath: it is contradictory.
It states the individual will defend against all foreign and domestic enemies;
but on the other hand states "will obey the orders of the President of the US"
No instruction on what to do when the President and officers are the enemy. I can see how the soldiers could get mixed up

No contradiction in my mind. The oath to preserve and protect takes precedence. An unlawful unconstitutional order has no force.

Of course then people ask what is unconstitutional?

Fortunately for some people the Oath-Keepers have codified what is unconstitutional in their 10 orders we won't obey.

I always find this kind of lickspittle attitude, always stated with no possible reasoning or proof, and as if the conclusion is incontestable and inescapable to be highly amusing.

I always urge this type of idiot to read up on 4th and 5th generation war and then compare the effectiveness of the largely 2nd generation American military in the 4th and 5th gen wars that are raging now.

And then I generally try to say something about the three levels of war and try to get the moran to think how those levels relate to 4th and 5th gen war.

This because the type of moran who says these things only thinks at the bare tactical level if he thinks at all.

When you factor in the size, technology,an armed population and urban centers, just to name a few complexities, it becomes a big problem for the would be tyrant.

I should add that I've never gotten any kind of reply except name calling. This leads me to believe that the people who post such assertions are in fact stupid hand wringing cowards, merely ignorant or are here to spread lies for the purpose of weakening and demoralizing people.

So which one are you three?

Point is:

I lived in Amerika most of my life and refused to pay the protection money and tried to convince everyone I knew who believed in Jeffersonian freedom to follow along with me, as I believe, and rightly so, that if all Amerikans would cut off the funding of the criminals now, the house of cards would soon tumble WITHOUT violence.

So, to think that WITH violence more will stand up against the tyrants is simply foolish!

Tax rebellion IS the best way to win this fight but good luck trying to find a few not afraid of the IRS.

Oh, and tell me YOU dont pay the protection money?

You are afraid of IRS but not ATF? BS!

But so far all the poliltical "leaders" AND the military are obeying orders from an unconstitutional presumptive president; multiple acts of treason have been committed these past 4 years, yet the military is NOT protecting us from the DOMESTIC enemies; Washington DC power is awash with domestic enemies----why has our military not done something then? Can we expect them at some point in the future to BEGIN protecting us from these domestic enemies, as so far they have turned a blind eye.

Stewart Rhodes (the founder) was between a rock and a hard place. In order to sign on active duty military and active police he had to tread lightly and phrase everything carefully in this political climate.

So getting the targeted people to agree to even stand down was a major success.

Just consider for a moment the implications of that.

If a county sheriff stands down we are more likely to avoid the useless effusion of blood as our ancestors would say.

As far as protecting ourselves, that in the end, is up to you.

I am familiar with this....I have read it and it strikes me each time I read it that vow that they will not do certain things, but nowhere do they state they will DEFEND us. All of it states to me that they will just have nothing to do with these transgressions against citizens---not that they will defend us. Not really a whole lot of comfort after all---except that they won't attack us....but neither do they have any interest in defending us
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31422082

Yes there's that. Then there's land mass and states to consider in the u.s..

Then there's an absence of strategy because there is no immediate environmental threat immediately perceived.
Then there's the gov't repeat behavior of bringing in lunatics to keep the hornet's nest stirred up.
All anyone has to do is look how the middle east is being handled/managed as they're fattened up for the kill.
Gov't has consistent effective ways of keeping confusion at a high pitch. Like right now :D
Then there's over-reactors that can f*ck up the whole deal for everyone resulting in further outrageous constraints.
So you might have a little fire to put out over here and another one over there....so how is that helpful overall.
Deep down they know this.

 Quoting: FatalW1shes

I see now the problem with this oath: it is contradictory.
It states the individual will defend against all foreign and domestic enemies;
but on the other hand states "will obey the orders of the President of the US"
No instruction on what to do when the President and officers are the enemy. I can see how the soldiers could get mixed up

Ok, i've seen that a few times before now, but we are neck deep in the greatest acts of treason ever committed anywhere....how 'bout their taking a stand against them?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31422082

I understand the question and here is the answer- no one wants to initiate violence. Who ever does so first will have lost the moral high ground. Even if it is justifiable.

The government has the mass media and millions of morans on their side. FreeFor can't afford a mistake in the propaganda struggle.

That is why people who say we have lost because we have suffered blow after blow against liberty and the constitution and done nothing are wrong.

Eventually the totalitarians will make a mistake. They always do, either from arrogance or stupidity or both.

Thanks for posting that. I concur completely especially since Smedley said defense of the Bill of Rights is a legitimate reason to go to war.

I do note that you are unable to reply to my post except by way of your little indirect slur.

You failed to respond!

BS!

When civil wars happen, it's inevitable that other countries will get involved. First advisers, allocating funds, helping with the transport of supplies for either side, to profiteer or to genuinely support one side, etc.

Then maybe their troops get injured. Their transports become legitimate targets because one side of another becomes the injured party. They blockade, things ramp up, and then they're sending in troops.

Occupying forces take a long time to leave, if ever.

It doesn't have to be an invasion to have foreign troops here.

One side might not have troops, but maybe they use mercs. Now you have professionals fighting for pay, not honor, not patriotism. It's a job. How much discretion will those mercs have? How much restraint if any?
