A camera is installed in Wordsworth's study to broadcast his final hours and execution live to the nation. He summons the Chancellor, who arrives at exactly 11:16 p.m. After some discussion, Wordsworth reveals to the Chancellor that his chosen method of execution is by an explosive set to go off in his room at midnight. He explains that the reaction to imminent execution that will interest the public is not his own but the Chancellor's, as the door is locked and no one is outside to help the Chancellor escape.

He intends to show the nation how a spiritual man faces death, and proceeds to read from his illegal, long-hidden copy of the Bible. He also points out that, as the events are being broadcast live, the State would risk losing its status in the eyes of the people by trying to rescue the Chancellor. As the time draws to a close, Wordsworth's calm acceptance of death stands in sharp contrast with the Chancellor's increasing panic.

Moments before the bomb explodes, the Chancellor desperately begs to be let go "in the name of God". Wordsworth says that "in the name of God" he will release the Chancellor immediately, which he does. The Chancellor bursts out of the room and down the stairs just as the bomb explodes and kills Wordsworth.

In the final scene, he returns to the courtroom to discover that a new Chancellor has replaced him and that he himself is now obsolete: "You have disgraced the State. You have proven yourself a coward....

Is the U.S. Constitution obsolete??

Conservatives worry that the U. S. Constitution is being ignored. The next step is for the Constitution to be spoken against and then repudiated. That seems to be happening, even by a Supreme Court Justice! In the meantime, the rest of the world has stopped imitating America’s constitutional system, which, in many people’s minds does not parcel out enough rights, and the rights it does recognize are the wrong ones:

In a television interview during a visit to Egypt last week, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the Supreme Court seemed to agree [with the irrelevance of the Constitution to new nations today]. “I would not look to the United States Constitution if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012,” she said. She recommended, instead, the South African Constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms or the European Convention on Human Rights.

Every democracy in history has degraded to such a society. The first symptom is government handouts, as that leads to a needy people, and a government that provides their every need.

All roads lead to Rome, as all one has to do is study its history and see that what went on there, is happening in the corporation we call the United States.
They remove you from your rural base that allowed you to grow and sell your own products (independence) and sell them in the marketplace.
They then provide you with products (i.e. bread, oils, salts, etc.), then you forget how to produce your own (dependent).
They provide you with entertainment (to distract you from the tyranny they're exacting on you).
In the meantime, they get wealthy and powerful, while you become a 'worker bee' for their constituent companies, or stay home and collect their handouts.

God wants us to know history, so that we are not victims of its repetition (yes, Satan is a like a broken record, he does the same things everytime).

Ecclesiastes 3:15 That which is has been already and that which will be has already been, for God seeks what has passed by.

I don't see how you can view it any other way...

the problem is the people drawn to the government are always looking to expand its power for their own ends and since all governments can do is tax and destroy we see everything systematically degrading wherever government control is tightest

people suffered under slavery and oppression for a long time but the problem now is slavery can be comfortable enough that no one cares, even so the US government is on a slippery slope and knows that internal dissent threatens its hegemony

in the short term its best to leave the country because any sort of open rebellion will not be popular and you will most likely spend the rest of your life in jail or die an early violent death

i think the last election was more earth shattering for americans than we know. it was not an election between two men with different vision, it was in fact THE fundamental change in the psyche of the american people.

This has been then plan and we have been in that process for a long time now. Communist infiltrated the US after WWII to take us down from within. We only managed to outspend and collapse the Soviet Union because our capitolism was hugely successful and their communism was an economic disaster. That didn't stop their ideology though. They were able to plant the seed of communism thoughout our education system which has taught communist ideology for two whole generations now.

The Republic was doomed to die anyways...............with Caesar being killed or not. In fact, some would say Brutus and his cohorts killed the one person who could have saved the Republic, for better or for worse.

The Roman world had simply grown to vast by the time of caesar for it to be governed by a group of senators from Rome.

Now.......did bureaucracy and opulence and decadence take over and ruined the Empire?
Absolutely. Did it grow too big? Absolutely. (Witness the fact that it got divided into TWO empires by Diocletian).

Did Paganism die out and allow Christianity to take over and further hasten the demise of the Empire? Probably so.

But I do not feel that (if that is what you are implying) that Rome fell because it transferred from a Republic to an Empire.

Even Gibbon called the Era of The Five Good Emperors (to paraphrase------the era "where the human condition was happiest."

Other factors may have contributed, but not reallytotally this one.

Bingo. Generally the most direct thing a person might do then is to move to a more rural self-regulated area if they are not there already, reduce costs through self sufficiency and frugality, and to deal directly in terms of income.

Theologically from a christian view point it might be stated that God's most basic motive is to permit freedom of choice within duality and generally not interfere, and the most basic motive of Satan is that of control. (Original Sin - to desire to force people to worship God.)

These concepts not only relate to Libertarian type thought in relation to government styles, but the issue of force also provides a reference in the most basic interpretation of right and wrong in one's moral compass.
