Hmmm, I saw two in boston last night when I was leaving work.

I see them daily live near Quantico.

Lots of possible reasons for helicopters to be flying around your area...

Like the other folk said - get some video, figure out where they are flying if you want to know what's up...

Times, direction, altitude... Where are they coming from? Where do they go, how long do they stay? Annotate a map with their activity. Is there a pattern?

Are they hovering? Circling? Lights? [spotlights and normal running lights] Spraying?

Go to the library and look them up in "Jane's all the world's Aircraft" and figure out what model they are.

Any runners, pods or tanks attached?

Any other activity in the area?

I'm sure you've got a lot of local/state police helos in that area, and hospital medivac flights, and TV helos...

If you get that data then you can take a shot at what it means...

BTW: Why do you wonder if they are involved in the flu - it doesn't seem to be anywhere near an epidemic or a pandemic there, unless we're just not hearing about it.

Approx. one year ago my son and I spotted a drone flying over our house......low altitude......less than 1,000 feet up......moving at around 40mph.......totally quiet.

I live in STP too and the house was rattling last night. I think we are a beta test for something. Over the summer the local news said that the choppers were doing domestic, urban warfare drlls ( yes...how reassuring and comforting) with skyscrapers.

Really? cause noticed some updated pictures of properties, Could see everything where ALL cars were parked. extra buildings/You could even see if there was a person standing out side.. Now what kind of 'data'is usefully for like property tax info.?

Thing about it, up until about 2 years ago..or this year/ they used a plane to take these pictures, And a plane could not have gotten that close with out the person hearing it.. Oh and that person was ME! Talking pretty close ups here.. Felt like it was an invasion of privatize.. and kinda freaky
it's real freaky cause i've kept up with these things for years.. just in general, a hobby so to speak.. First time i saw this was a few months ago.. that's cause it was made a few months ago.. late spring or summer.

Thanks for your suggestions. Yet again, I find myself lying in bed awake at 4:16am with the chopper right above my house somewhere up there in the dark.... Begs the question: what could they be doing up there in the dark with no lights on at 4-5am? Spraying seems like a no-brainer. It's hard to be sure how many of them are up there at any given time but I can always hear copters varying in distance. sometimes the sound fades as they change course but they generally seem to hover over my area quite a bit.

Initially, I noticed them only during the day and watched them fly in tandem back and fourth to and from downtown... so I was able to differentiate the sound and amplitude between them and a typical (med flight) copter.... So I can identify these without actually seeing them. They are extremely loud, black beasts which are seemingly invisible in the night sky yet the sound they make rattles my whole house like nothing I've ever experienced... I'm sure most of the N end of St. paul hears them. I will try to get to the library asap for some answers on the aircraft type.

As for the flu reaching pandemic classification, states nation wide are calling for a state of emergency. hospitals here in MN are closing down access to only the severely sick and will not allow visitors other than one, non-sick immediate family member... 5 dead so far, last I checked, including a healthy, 14 year old girl who died last night (God rest her soul), 18 dead in MA...
Everybody and their mother is sick around here... My Brother in NY has reported the same as well as my parents in wisconsin.

I know copters are spraying without doubt, and it's worse than ever this year... I have lived in bigger cities where black op patrol is typical during the day, this is not that, these copters are working during a time where most people are sleeping... in pitch dark sky with no lights.... can't be patrolling, so why else are they spending so much time up there night after night?

All I know is, the prevalence of the copters coincides with the outbreak of this flu... Could be related to the flu shot though.

Im in Saint Paul and this has become an all day and night thing. I have also seen what i believe to be a drone as described by a previous poster . Wtf is going on Twin Cities?

Not even to mention, have you noticed the increase in chemtrails and other strange phenomena in the sky (white, haze across the entire sky on a supposedly "clear day", rainbow clouds, sun refractions, etc..).
Minneapolis is worse than Saint Paul it seems. On a sunny day you can literally drive from Minneapolis where the sky is white (not cloudy day) into Saint Paul and as you do, the sky becomes bluer and bluer. I avoid going into Minneapolis if I don't have to... Twin cities are definitely hand-in-hand with the "agenda".

So, OP -

Are they flying a grid pattern? Like mowing the grass, down and back, each time a little bit farther to one side? Or are they flying to a specific spot, hovering there, or circling?

Or are they following roads, etc?

More than one at the same time?

If that is what they are doing then they probably are searching for something they lost, or practicing looking for something they think them might lose...

It wouldn't make sense to spray at night - or at all frankly. And repeated "spraying' would serve no purpose if everyone is already sick. Night spraying would affect/infect almost no one, since most folk - especially in winter - are home inside, where it's warm. A much better way to give folk the flu is to contaminate a salad bar or restaurant buffet, or institutional food services at schools or offices or to contaminate the air supply in large buildings - but that wouldn't make any sense - hard to find a motive that holds up for wanton, industrial-level mass infections of the population.

I'm thinking that without more direct evidence, the two things are not related.

The black helos flying low in the middle of the night is something that has been repeated a number of times across the country. I remember it happening here back in the 1990s. Every night at @0300 local time, for several weeks. I thought I was being too paranoid until I noticed other non-conspiracy types talking about how it was waking them up...

Bottom line - I id'd the helos, used online imagery to find the base they were flying from and figured out to my satisfaction what they were up to...

You probably can too.

One thing to think about is that for most things they would be up to, there is no reason for them to let you hear them. So, one option is that they are intimidating certain folk, or just keeping the buzz and uncertainty up... Always a possibility.

The other thing to think about is that even if they are doing "something," there may not be a sufficient reason for you to react to it. Sometimes just knowing is enough, without the trouble that confrontation might bring. lol

Earlier this summer news announced army was going to be training exercises over the twin cities. Someone speculated it was training for invading Tehran since they have similar city layouts.-- But who knows?

Wow. thank you for info... Answers a lot of my questions. Seems to me you're probably correct in that they may just be practicing or initiating patrol of the area. I usually see 2 at a time when I can see them.
Interestingly enough, today/tonight is the first time [in a long time] I haven't heard them at all... Still just 1am so they may still come out later around 3-4am as usual... but nothing yet... now I can finally get some sleep!

They usually fly low, in pairs, with one flanking the other.

Any chopper vets that can tell us about what certain maneuvers we may be seeing may mean.

I've been hearing them often. Incredibly LOUD. Very large Chinook sized choppers. They are usually flying West to East.(towards St. Paul) All times of night. A coworker mentioned this to me out of the blue today. Her and her husband heard one last night. Complained about the noise.

Like you said OP, this is the only place I found on the net talking about it when I did a search. No clue what is going on.

One just few over a few minutes ago. They drive me nuts. SO loud.

Last night my husband and I heard them from 1-3am. They would get really close, the Macalester Groveland Neighborhood, then fly off and then come back again then go away. Then we would hear them coming back but not as close. No lights so not tracking someone on 94. Very strange. Emailed the news stations and newspaper to see if they have heard anything.
