Our produce buyer sent all us reps an email warning of this happening so we could warn our customers of price increases next week. Apparently lettuce and broccoli as well will be affected by this. An example of the increase, 20LB case of broccoli this past week was 20.98, it will be over 40.00 next week. My Chinese customers freaked!!!! LOL

Oh enough already, everyone knows its global climate change, you'd have to be deaf, dumb & totally blind not to see it, or in total and unequivocal denial about whats happening.

-cold snap destroys the produce. (when those trees die it takes years to grow a new orchards)
-2 more years of north american drought will drastically reduce yields of row crops.
-aquifers depleted. water companies required to use expensive filtration processes and dig deeper wells.
-water wars already developing. heavily leveraged industries must protect their turf or lose it all. (tourism, recreation water sports, hospitality, craft food producers) .... Enter lawyers, politicians, buerocrats, payolla.corruption.absurd taxation.
- stock ponds in the places where people allow livestock to be raised at 100 year depletion levels, more strain on municipal water supplies.
- fracking water use and hydro-logical impacts not fully understood.
- Europe at record precipitation levels, however, gulf stream and north american gyre stopping. Return to the mini-ice age configuration.
- Instead of improving existing urban centers. Debt fueled over development everywhere, breaking up natural contiguous ag/industrial bases. You can't just bulldoze detroit and turn it into farmland, no more than you can bulldoze ex-urb vacant mcmansions. Financialzation and taxation promises were made and will be enforced with tanks in the streets if unnecessary. (see 2008 crash)
