Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say,“Look! This is something new”? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them. Article is dated today. The initiative is a part of the Air Force's attempt to refurbish the third leg of America's nuclear tripod — also called the Triad. Nuclear submarines (Sea) and bombers (Air) have taken funding precedent over the years, while the ground side has gone ignored. Yeah, my thoughts exactly. They are hardly static now, they sit atop of missles, go into planes and even suitcase\dirty nukes. How much more mobile can they possibly get. The US, UK and most other powers with nukes can have them at the other side of the planet inside an hour or so. When you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all |

[link to www.businessinsider.com] Also, what would be the point of ground based delivery systems? They are slow and require some form of pre-built infrastructure to exist to the doorstep of the target, not to mention that ground based would be the slowest delivery method and very easy to intercept. All this in a struggling economy too. You think our governments would have better things to spend money on. When you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all |
Farley's Ghost (OP) User ID: 31011875 United States 01/11/2013 05:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the Air Force resolved that 2013 would be filled with renewed interest in bombs housed in "200,000 lb blast resistant vehicles" and "rail cars," reports NextGov. The enhanced mobility would further harden the defense of ground-side nuclear armaments in the event of a surprise attack — simply because the bombs could move out of the way of any incoming nukes.
