I think Trin has too but it may lead to less posting and just "liking". That's my take.... [The time of Christ's return is drawing near. Quoting: Mr_Electric I think Trin has too but it may lead to less posting and just "liking". That's my take.... Thanks, but less posting can also be for the better if it means less hatefull or useless comments. Just like yourself and don't worry about what strangers on message board think of you. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2269485 I don't really care what people think of me, i know its me who has to do that judging myself. Not to AC's (wich is good for a reason, but like could be handy. see how at the top of the thread above the title there's 5 choices, ranging from Absolute Bullshit to whatever? Try using it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31949842 I use that a lot, it's like the next quoted commenter says, its about the comments, not the threads. For THREAD rating, not comment. I think he means for individual comments like the one you just posted. Instead of me having to type "fuck off" or "fuck you" I can just click the thumbs down button to tell you how fucked you are. You understand :D Erm.... actually, fb wasn't the first to implement "like" on posts. Free boards like this were. I did not say FB was the first to implement, i said fb is the most known with there like and little thumb image, i'm around more sites and forums wich have options to thank or like comments. Useless Cookie Eater User ID: 29696048 ![]() 01/12/2013 09:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not to get all like facebook or anything (facebook isn't the only site using "like" it's only the most known). Quoting: Dutchguy But a lot of different websites use this kind of option and i think it will do a good deal for GLP to introduce it. The idea is simple (i'm no programmer, but for a decent programmer it must not be so hard to code into): A lot of times when reading through articles, some comments really stick out and oke you can give good or bad karma, but not to ac's, who sometimes also make good comments. So a "Like" option for comments would be nice, to show appreciation or just to let people know that, more people feel the same way if they don't want to comment or anything but feel they stil want to contribute. It does not have to be a dual option (Like/Dislike) cause that would cause to much left/right fighting and flaming, so only a like option is my idea. The whole karma system is fine and i don't mean for it to be gone with my idea, but i feel it could just be that little extra wich makes glp that little bit nicer again. Maybe someone can start a poll if there is enough feedback. Soooooo GLP, whats your thought on this? ![]() FACEBOOK is purely a government database in which people WILLINGLY hand over personal information. ....so you want GLP to be more like Facebook? Suggestion..... ![]() ![]() |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2269485 Because you need some sort of validation to prove to yourself that people enjoy your comments, or threads? Of course, ego isn't a big issue here. What else, you like a racist percentage option, so we can tell you when you threads are racist enough? How about an option to vote shrill on everything? That's my new song name, "shrill on everything". |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 32031041 ![]() 01/12/2013 09:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No it doesn't, unpopular opinions would never get a look in this way. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31679713 Agree with that, And no, I don't like this idea. Trying to put a finger on what it is that feels "wrong" about it. Something to do with how our society always wants "conformity", always wants to "judge". Always wants to know where the "majority" is, so they can fit in. This seems to encourage that kind of thinking. Some people are herdlike enough that they will not even read a lot of "dislike" posts, and may even begin to shun that poster without having given them a chance. You see how in some threds, there are always people saying "great job, OP, another great thread OP" to an almost unnatural degree,...Well, that works. It influences others to think this is a trusted OP with good, accurate information. There will always be some that like my posts, and some that don't. I'd rather hear the reasons why than see the number of Likes or Dislikes after it. It's much to easy to push a button and say, I dislike this, or to post a bs flag with no comment. It's harder to explain and analyze why you like or don't like something. I'd rather encourage thinking than first response and immediate gratification of feeling, there, I told him! Last, just like the star system, it can be abused by those that do have multiple identities (software that allows them to post with up to 10 different identities). And these are the most likely to be "shills", since they are the main people who have access to that software. Eventually it becomes meaningless. So, no, I don't see the value in it, OP. I can see where some do. Just not me. |
