GLP needs a "like" option for comments! Who's with me?

Be careful what you wish for. They'll add it then make you pay 10 a month to use it.

I hope it wont go that way, but i think you have a point. But, the karma system also includes free accounts. Not AC's.

I think Trin has too but it may lead to less posting and just "liking".

Good luck. This site is ran by the mods. It's what they like, not what the majority likes.

That's what we use the smilies for. I don't think I want to see lines of "like's" all over the threads.

see how at the top of the thread above the title there's 5 choices, ranging from Absolute Bullshit to whatever? Try using it.

I think he means for individual comments like the one you just posted. Instead of me having to type "fuck off" or "fuck you" I can just click the thumbs down button to tell you how fucked you are.

Erm.... actually, fb wasn't the first to implement "like" on posts. Free boards like this were.

In all fairness I never claimed they were the first.

I did not say FB was the first to implement, i said fb is the most known with there like and little thumb image, i'm around more sites and forums wich have options to thank or like comments.

FACEBOOK is purely a government database in which people WILLINGLY hand over personal information.

Because you need some sort of validation to prove to yourself that people enjoy your comments, or threads?

Agree with that, And no, I don't like this idea.

Trying to put a finger on what it is that feels "wrong" about it.

Something to do with how our society always wants "conformity", always wants to "judge". Always wants to know where the "majority" is, so they can fit in. This seems to encourage that kind of thinking.

Some people are herdlike enough that they will not even read a lot of "dislike" posts, and may even begin to shun that poster without having given them a chance. You see how in some threds, there are always people saying "great job, OP, another great thread OP" to an almost unnatural degree,...Well, that works. It influences others to think this is a trusted OP with good, accurate information.

There will always be some that like my posts, and some that don't. I'd rather hear the reasons why than see the number of Likes or Dislikes after it. It's much to easy to push a button and say, I dislike this, or to post a bs flag with no comment. It's harder to explain and analyze why you like or don't like something. I'd rather encourage thinking than first response and immediate gratification of feeling, there, I told him!

Last, just like the star system, it can be abused by those that do have multiple identities (software that allows them to post with up to 10 different identities). And these are the most likely to be "shills", since they are the main people who have access to that software. Eventually it becomes meaningless.

So, no, I don't see the value in it, OP. I can see where some do. Just not me.
