Before 2008, I felt better about everything.

Today, we have become a bitter, paranoid society.

We trade our time for money in the US.
To have more time, you need to need less money.
Our family goal is not to earn more, but need less.
I find real joy in trying to spend NO money. It forces me to be creative.

Re: Not enough free time to do anything in todays society
work 9-5 mon-fri
get up at 7am, get ready, get stuck in traffic
get home 6-7pm
shower, food, shit, check news, small talk with family (these small things add up real fast)
sleep 8 hours average, 11pm leaves you with 4 hours free time out of 24, which hardly even counts if you include things mentioned above and if you have OCD forget about free time completely.

Here is what you should be doing in the 4 hours:

Relationships: Play, help with Children's homework, if any. Have quality time with spouse, if any. Or chat on phone with friends, relatives, elderly in the family, or neighbors. See how they are doing. Attend to pets.

Mind:Relax -nurture a hobby, or learn one, such as playing an instrument or a new language. Read. Catch up with GLP...

Improve your career -read professional journals; new research. Network.

Keep up with the news, world affairs
Manage your money - check savings, investments, if any)

BodyShop/Cook nutritious food including chopping the veggies. Hit the gym, or run around the block -tai chi, lift weights, whatever.

Spirit Pray, meditate, read sacred lit, listen calming music...

EnvironmentKeep house, yard, repairs, cleaning. Maintain electronic gadgets, pc's....

Let me know when you figure it out.
