Just walk away, things will work out. They did for me, and now I enjoy 24 hours of nothing to do plus I get a weekly check. Thanks Obama

There's another level here that isn't be discussed. I know plenty of people who make very good salaries, but they blow all that money on stupid gadgets and expensive cars ($50,000 for a metal box??) and big, wooden boxes ("houses") to put all their shiny, worthless shit in. What a joke. If they lived simply and saved most of that money, they could stop working after 5 or 6 years and move somewhere where it's cheap to live and just relax and enjoy life. But people have been brainwashed to believe they need all this ridiculous material crap, and so they stay slaves and keep punching the clock and buying more worthless crap, and the cycle of slavery continues. Unbelievable, really.

Re: Not enough free time to do anything in todays society
Fuck starting a family. Who wants to bring a child into this bleak, miserable cold world, anyways?

Work as little as possible: very little point in saving when you are young as inflation will erode the value of your money by the time you retire. Work just enough the scrape out the bare necessities and to give you as much free time as possible.

To save money:
Don't eat at restaurants.
Don't buy heavily processed junk food or sugary drinks.
Don't drink alcohol, use drugs, or tobacco.
Don't go to the movies.
Don't go to the mall.
Don't buy movies--rent or borrow them.
Don't buy books--borrow them.
Don't buy CDs--borrow them.
Get rid of cable/satellite TV.
Stay a generation or two behind in video gaming (you can get great old systems for less than $30 and games for less than $10).

Shop at goodwill stores and flea markets for clothing and housewares.

Anytime you want to buy something wait six weeks and see if you still truly want it before purchasing it.

Develop cheap hobbies such as reading books and watching movies from the library, swimming in a local lake, walking and hiking, riding a bike, yoga and meditation, cooking your own food from scratch.

You will have plenty of time to do with as you please.

Keep it simple. Don't sign any loan papers or have kids. Don't sign cellphone contracts. Dump cable tv. And for gods sake's don't sign a mortgage. Things are about to get much worse and it will come like a thief in the night.

Or fine with all the other shit that goes on.

You gotta find a job you love, and just cruise.

Never let the stress get to you, and take ur time.

And holiday.

Go to places that you really are amazed by.

And then rinse, and repeat.

I got fired for saying it was unfair that I ended up working every weekend because I don't have children with soccer games.

Why do we have to pay for gas to get to work, clothes to wear to work, etc. Yet they do not have to provide a living wage?

Re: Not enough free time to do anything in todays society
What a great thread.

And I am in the middle of the fight. I do all the simple things listed already, but 18 months ago I gave up my cell phone. I realized that the one person who called me the most was my boss always with 20 or 25 things to do etc.

When I would drop what I was doing to go see about all these things turns out it was always only 4 things, three of which he was capable of doing himself because I trained him.

I thought enough of this!

Now he can't call me and doesn't know my home phone number (I never call in etc.) No more 48,000 things needs doing you better get here.

Now I can get a hold of anyone but only people who really want to get to me can and will and usually to put that much work into tracking me down means it's not for some time wasting bullshit reason but something good.

Now when I cell phone rings I know it's not for me. Smart phones ha, time wasting, slave tracking nonsense bs devices!

Don't get a smart phone, be a smart human. rockon

I can't give this thread enough kudos. Such truth, such truth.

Trying to fix my situation but to end your dependency on money...you need money. Especially if you have to fix debts, legal problems, etc.

But freedom is on the horizon. had a very hopeful dream indicating that yesterday.

Blessings to you all...keep fighting the fight :)

Thanks for my first GLP pin, whoever.hf

You know it's a fucked up world when the vast majority has no problem being a brainwashed slave, who don't even question a thing, decieved to thinking it's the good life.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11421136

Yeah it sucks that's for sure, the only remedy has always been to do what you love to do and somehow make that pay that way you don't consider it work and sacrifice.

That, however is hard to do and working those hours is soul destroying ..... Just to survive. When you are at school you think about all those never ending holidays, all that endless time. Then you finish and all you have is a measly 4 weeks a year.

You are right, it is just slavery.

Re: Not enough free time to do anything in todays society
Why are most people fine with this? wtf?

And with the average salary to time spent working isn't even close to being worth the returns.

Let's just see how many hours of the day an average person gives up, not just the work hours but the hours leading up to and after from the moment of waking up to sleep.

work 9-5 mon-fri
get up at 7am, get ready, get stuck in traffic
get home 6-7pm
shower, food, shit, check news, small talk with family (these small things add up real fast)
sleep 8 hours average, 11pm leaves you with 4 hours free time out of 24, which hardly even counts if you include things mentioned above and if you have OCD forget about free time completely.

this is a slavery routine and yet most people are ok with it, wow.

Unless you make more than $100,000 a year working is NOT worth it!

After the government steals a chunk of your paycheck, bills, rent, power, water, internet, shopping then before you know it you've got fuck all money left except to get drunk on the weekend which is what most people end up doing. Rinse and repeat next week.

I got all the time i want but no money in the pocket, so what you get on one side you lose it on the other, but it's good to be out of the matrix, to have plenty of time to walk, to contemplate the sky and the land, to see how people are lost and braindead, to be like an eagle that oversees the land of the slaves, to feel God's presence and witness his signs,

It is everybody's fault.
Because we don't want to sacrifice anything, we all want to eat out, do no cooking, we all want AC in the whole house, we all want new gadgets, big screens, pretty clothes etc.
And of course, there's people who benefit from us wanting all that, that's how they keep modern slavery rolling.
The world will never change, before they had kings, now we have big corporations, before they had slaves, now we do too, but we just have the illusion we are free, which make it much convenient.

Re: Not enough free time to do anything in todays society
I'm 23, and have had 6 jobs since 15. Working only part time, I couldn't stand holding any job longer than a year without losing my sanity.

I quit one after another because I felt I could do more with my life without slaving my hours away to a job.

Now, I was recently pushed to work a full time job, and now I have even less time to myself than ever before.

Most people shouldn't slave their lives away to 9-5, I believe we can all be more productive, happier, and result in a better society.
